Habs October Report
What do you do when you think your team is really really good and they stink?
That’s the question the Habs are facing just 10 games into the season as they sit 4-6 and have one of the lowest scoring teams in the league.
The top line of Tkachuk-Zibejad-Panarin should be one of the best in the league. Victor Hedman is usually a top defenceman in the CPHL Instead they are all struggling to produce and not doing much better on the defensive side of things.
Mike Matheson and Nick Suzuki are leading the way in Montreal right now which puts the team that intended to contend in an awkward position.
After acquiring their 1st round pick in the Brady Tkachuk deal the team has the liberty to be patient. Does GM Goffie stay the course and hope to find chemistry or does he blow it up?
If the Habs blow it up do they look to win, or do they look to the rebuild and hope to restock the cupboard?
The answer right now is rebuild. The Habs are very much open for business but have the luxury of being patient and waiting until closer to the deadline before making a move.
Hedman, Zibanejad, and Panarin could finish the season as Habs or they could be shipped off tonight if the right deal comes along. The team has made it clear that it is not interested in a quality for quantity type deal and for these guys to move an interesting player or pick will be heading to the Habs.
The team can’t answer what route it will take this season. But the next month should be an interesting one in Montreal.
Whether it’s interesting because it is extremely quiet or because of the amount of deals being made. Time will tell.
