Zadorov Openly Opposes Russian Invasion

Guy is a stud. Hope he can continue to be a Flame, I love his attitude and personality.

Zadorov is such a breath of fresh air. When he agrees to an interview he speaks his mind.

I’m so sick of the “Uh”, “Obviously”, “Well, I mean, uh”, “I think, uh…” type interviews. Hi Sean Monahan. Zadorov has a brain and isn’t afraid to use it.

When asked shortly after his on-ice session whether he had be contacted regarding the interview, Zadorov said he had not, but was expecting plenty of reaction.

“I’m definitely aware of the consequences I’m going to get. I probably can’t go back to my Motherland, where I grew up, my city where I grew up, and I’m OK with that,” he said. “I know how it works over there. It’s gonna be big propaganda, TV channels are going to be talking about me, and be pushing the agenda, saying, ‘He’s brainwashed by the West,’ that kind of thing. They’ll say I’m watching CNN too much or something, but I don’t. It’s a clear view. You see bad and you see good things, and that’s my opinion.”

Not as polished as many of the other players. But I’d bet Big Z is one of the bigger leaders in the locker room. He’s not afraid to say what needs to be said.

rumour is he's looking for more than 5m per year, so I'd say him getting no attention is pretty understandable. I love the guy, but there's no way re-signing him to a long-term deal like that makes sense.

for what it's worth, he mentioned in the interview that his parents back home are supporting the regime and the whole thing has changed his family dynamics. Must be a really tough situation for him.

I may not be a big fan of him on the ice, but amazing to see him come out with these statements. It would have been easy to stay quiet or give a bland, nothing response but he came out with a strong statement leaving no doubt where he stands.

Nothing but absolute respect for Zadorov as a person after these comments.
