Figured with all this hubub about the new arena we should take some time to reminisce about a historic building and anchor for this great cities skylines.

I was there. If the video looks old and dated, it is because the presentation was old and dated, even for the late '80s. Pretty cool building when it opened, but that opening ceremony, yeesh.
And we lost. To the oilers.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Late 80s? It opened in the early 80s. Haha.

In this video from 1983, Dave Hodge “the city has been hoping for a big league facility at least since the mid 1970s”. Some things change, others stay the same.
I remember being super excited to watch the first game... (i seem to remember it being the oilers, but i also remember it being hartford too, so... lol?), only to see them get blown away by like 5 goals or something.

I was going to say....the musical number looked like something out of the 1950s. Even the announcer sounds like he has an outdated voice.
The first event I saw at the Saddledome wasn’t a Flames game - it was the Rod Stewart & Jeff Beck concert during Stampede in ‘84. It was the last show show on the tour before they had a fight and Beck split.

It was the Oilers, and it was a 4-3 loss.
You might be conflating it with the first Flames game at the Corral, which was a 5-5 tie vs. the Nordiques.

Really? Why do I remember it being like 9-4 or something crazy... that's so weird. Maybe because it was the Oilers it just felt like a 5-goal loss lol.
Sorry to burst your bubble but God doesn't do code. Or make films for that matter. He just writes books.
Are you sure? Beacuse I was sharing my screen with him the other day and he was like, "bro... chill... you just forgot to await that promise. not a big deal. oh, and move that variable there into the proper scope... you can thank me later for that one."
