Icon20 Bruins' "Historic 100": Savard, Ferrence, Looch and Lemelin

No Iggy, but he was only there for one year. 4 ex-Flames (tho, not sure if Looch counts since he played here after there). Did I miss anyone?

Was just thinking... what would be my all-time Bruins starting lineup? Then I was like... there's so many players I never saw actually play... so, I landed on an all-time starting line, and an "all-time that I've seen" starting line.

All-time

Bucyk Esposito Neely
Orr Bourque

Cheevers

All-time that I've seen

Marchand Thornton Neely
Chara Bourque

Thomas

It would be interesting to see what a Flames top 100 would look like. You would think that if Ference, Savard, and Lemelin made the Bruins, they would have to make the Flames list as well. Not sure about Lucic on the Flames though.

Savard and Ference won cups with the Bruins though. Also, I'm pretty sure it was Lemelin and Moog that lost to the Oilers in the finals the year after we won. I can't remember which one played the most, but I know they won the jennings that year. Actually, I remember the big story of Fuhr vs Moog in the finals, but I also seem to remember Lemelin in the playoffs that year too... I'm trying to remember... I wanna say Lemelin went into the season as the #1 and slowly lost it to Moog by the end of the season, but they went back to Lemelin for the playoffs... but did he get hurt or did he just lose it to Moog...?

Anyway, rambling aside, all four of those guys (Looch incl) either won or came very close to winning a cup with the Bruins. I'm not sure Ferrence or Savard would make the list without that. Looch obv would and I know Lemelin was very good for them after losing out to Vernie here.

I feel like Bingo has done these polls before by position? Maybe I'm imagining it? Or maybe it was by number?

If Savard wasn't concussed for the Bruins Cup run they would have swept all 4 series and won in 16games. Their PP in the playoffs was worse than a PP runned by Rich Preston or Kirk Muller.

There's a lot of things not to forgive Matt Cooke for, but that hit is #1 on my list.

I guess you'd get the top 10 at each position, and then have 40 more players to fit in.

If you went 10 or 15 deep at goalie, it is going to be pretty thin.

Kipper
Vernon
Lemelin
Markstrom
Bouchard
Riggin
Kidd
Turek
Wamsley
Brathwaithe
Rittich
Edwards
Hiller
Ramo
Smith

Bruins are doing this for their 100th year.

Flames have been in Calgary for 43

So top 43!

We could include the Atlanta years and have a top 51.

Kidd ahead of Brathwaite? And what about McLennan? I hope that's not in order.

You never saw Bourque in a Bruin uniform? You kids.

I'd put Rask over Thomas personally. And probably Bergeron over Thornton if we are just considering play "as a Bruin" (which we must be or Iggy is the RW). I'd have to throw Middleton ahead of Neely I think.
