Taking a while to get to 5000

Tired: He can win it a 3rd year in a row if Sutter is head coach next season.
Wired: The kid is the real deal and the future of Calgary's net is bright. Hope he gets his shot soon!

I definitely feel like Mitch Love owes his awards to Wolf. Good lord he's good.

He really should be MVP.
Carcone led the league in scoring but when you look at where the teams finished Wolf was a way bigger impact.

There's something about him as a person that's exceptionally rare.
It's humility and he could have an enormous EGO but he doesn't. His parents raised an incredible young man .
He hasn't gotten the starting job yet and I'm already stoked and cheering for this guy.
We've had so so so many promising guys in the past though that we either destroyed mentally or killed their development in some other way ....I hope his current goaltending coach gets hired when he gets the starters job because something is working well.
Next great news will be he's a Calder Cup Winner.... Playoff MVP

There are still some bright spots in this organization. His career up to the NHL has been nearly flawless. It's still shocking to me that he may have gone undrafted had the Flames not picked him just because of his size. Sure he's not prototypically tall but shorter athletes are playing QB in the NFL. I thought the NHL had kind of got past this obsession with measurables.

Still at least one player every draft that drops due to size.
Adam Fox was that guy - USNDTP records but goes in the 3rd round.
Mattias Maccelli - similar stats to Gaudreau in the USHL, but taken in the 4th round.
Last year Lane Hutson easily had 1st round production, but dropped to the 2nd because of his size. Now he's breaking NCAA records.
Honestly it would be easy to be a GM and just stockpile 2nd and 3rd round picks and just take these high potential but undersized players.

Will not be today. Believe it might be Monday emailed the league for clarification (working to confirm)

I actually don't know why more teams don't set aside picks every draft for the skilled yet undersized prospects that other teams deem too risky. Even if you get to many of the same size and type of player in your organization you end up with the flexibility to trade them for other positional needs.

Yup - it's getting easier to predict which guys it will be every season that will get taken in the 2nd - 4th round and then will blow up in value post draft because of their talent.
2022: Hutson
2021: Zellweger, Stankoven (Right Scorp?), Pastujov
2020: Lukas Cormier, Luke Evangelista
2019: N.Robertson, Dorofeyev, Maccelli
And honestly it's not just hindsight. If you go look back at past draft threads I know I personally really liked all of Hutson, Zellweger, Maccelli, and Pastujov. Think I actually drafted Maccelli in the CPHL draft!

if there is one player in every draft, then 31 fan bases will lament the failure to draft that guy.
Turns out the Flames having drafted Fox, Gaudreau and Wolf are pretty good at finding and drafting that one guy
