I liked what I saw from Morin this preseason and camp. Kid is going to be a gamer for the Flames.

I only remember him from the 5-3 loss to SEA, I don't know if he played in any other games. I think he's still pretty raw, but not much happened with him on the ice for either team, so I guess that was a good thing.

The only one that concerns me is Stromgren. Getting cut this early doesn't look great for someone who needs to maintain a Wranglers spot this year. Everything I've read so far is that he hasn't developed very well in Sweden. Hopefully a full year of AHL kickstarts him.

Lyle, Aspirot, and Diotte lasting longer than Stromgren is pretty impressive.

to be fair I doubt any of those guys get another game anyway... so its kind of a meh at this point.
With that said, Stromgren sure didn't impress much @ main camp or even Penticton honestly.

Stromgren looked good in Penticton. Liked the whole Honzel-Lipinski-Stromgren line actually

Not strong enough yet but he's smart, quick and loves to have the puck, he'll have a monster year for the wildcats.

Yeah, Morin is all about hockey IQ, and poise handling the puck. This will still be his 18YO season though, and he is still more of a boy than a man.
I think he has the ability to be a top-pairing PP quarterback one day. And it might not be that far away. As for this year, he is going to tear the Q a new one. And hopefully he gets on TC for the WJCs, though that can be tough for 18YO defensemen (I would think he'll be on it though)

For a franchise that has been lacking D prospects of any substance for a while, it is fantastic to see talent with high end potential by way of Morin and Poirer pushing their way along.

Not surprised by Stromgren. Expected him to be an early cut. Hope he gets a full year with the Wranglers, he really needs it.

Morin was a complete standout in every game.
Stromgren looked really good IMO. Great speed, always engaging physically, seemed to always stay on the right side of the puck. Hopefully he can get some confidence this year and start making more plays with the puck. Really encouraging showing IMO.

Honzek still around. He looked decent on the shifts i saw of him last game.
Way faster and agile than I thought. He can move. He seems to love taking a wide stance and going directly at the net.

Surprised Bell is going to the AHL not back to the WHL.
Is this likely to be a season long thing or is he going down there until they fill the numbers up with the final roster?

He'll likely be fighting for a spot in Wranglers camp. He played a pair of games with the Wranglers at the end of last season and has now fulfilled his 4 seasons in the dub requirement. At over a point a game last year, he'd likely be dominant enough in the dub this year that it doesn't make any sense to have him play there developmentally.

Bell is already 20 and because he just signed this year, his contract can't slide, so it's unlikely they'll send him back to junior unless he really struggles in the AHL/ECHL.

I was thinking he might go back to Tri-City, but as you point out his signing changes things.
