Default How many goals will the Flames score next season?

Going by the current roster, how many goals do you project the Flames to score next season?

Forwards:

Huberdeau - 20
Kadri - 25
Mangiapane - 25
Backlund - 15
Lindholm - 34
Coleman - 15
Sharangovich - 22
Dube - 20
Coronato - 18
Ruzicka - 15
Pelletier - 12
Duehr - 10

Sub-total = 231

Defense:

Weegar - 8
Tanev - 4
Kylington - 8
Hanifin - 6
Andersson - 13
Oesterle - 2
Gilbert - 1

Sub-total = 42

Random players who may play in the NHL at times:

Klapka - 4
Jones - 3
Zary -3
Pospisil - 1
Honzek - 3

Sub-total = 14

Total = 287

That 287 total would be a +27 increase over last season, which seems maybe overly optimistic. It would put the Flames 3rd in the West using last season as a standard and 7th in the league. I assume these estimates must be too optimistic.

I will admit, I have a tendency to over-estimate these every year, but I don't think I am being too overly optimistic on specific individuals, with the exception of Coronato. It might be a little much to expect an 18 goal rookie season, but I have high hopes for him and given how shallow our RW is, I expect him to get top 6 opportunities. I am also assuming that Honzek gets a 10 game audition.

Edit: I totally forgot about Zadorov, so the team totals could push 290 based on my probably too overly optimistic predictions.

With a improved PP and a focus on better defending transition and the players allowed to play to their skillset 5 on 5 I would say 300 isn't out of reach.

I can easily see 600 goals and 1300 points out of this lineup.

245. Unless they can find a way to play physical and then that number will go up.

Could be a significantly different roster that starts the season to the one at the end.

I think the OP had it about right, but I would not include the goals from the randos. If others get any goals, it will probably be at the expense of the regulars who are hurt or not performing. 273.

Yeah, that's a good point.

2 teams scored over 300 goals last year, so you are being optimistic.

And no team has 12 forwards with 10+ goals.

I didn't say they would get over 300 goals. My original guess was 287, but after removing the randos as suggested, it puts it more at 280ish. At least 10 teams in the league had 280 or more goals last season.

Not quite true. Seattle did. A few teams were really close, but fair point that it isn't common.
