Not sure why you would make your choice of contractor based on these bull#### flipper TV shows.

Seems almost redundant. Is there a contractor that hasn't screwed people? I've yet to meet them.

I imagine all their endorsement would take is a cheque.

Article says he worked on their show, so it was probably not in exchange for a cheque per se, rather likely it was in lieu of some pay for appearing previously.

But agreed with above, to base your decision on low quality celebrities is pretty dumb. Reading the story, it seems like this guy was essentially running a ponzi scheme out the side rather than actually paying contractors to do work. No doubt he embezzled too much and the wheels fell off.

Maybe you’ve been unlucky but they exist. We did a major reno years ago and worked with two contractors that were excellent and honest. Don’t slam the whole trade.

I agree, I had a big reno done not long ago and while the contractor I hired didn't come cheap it was an excellent experience with the work done to a high standard, on budget and ahead of schedule. But definitely do your due dilligence ahead of hiring anyone.

There are people who haven't been screwed by a contractor, but that doesn't prove the existence of a contractor who hasn't screwed people.

I'd like to nominate this for inclusion in the top 10 list of worst thread titles.

The other possible interpretation of the thread title is what piqued my interest.

Leaving unsatisfied.

This has jumped the shark for mega thread titles.

Maybe we need a "ongoing Fuzz complaining about mega-threads and how they are titled megathread"
