Decent lineup. I’m going to the game, so I’m happy to see that top line.

I'm excited to watch that 4th line. With Pospisil coming in 3rd in fitness, Klapka being a giant with hands, and Zary looking to establish himself...that's a fun line!

Solovyov is 23, two seasons of solid AHL seasons, seems like a perfect candidate to stick with the club

Here’s an opportunity for Ruzicka to show himself as a top 6 player as well. You have to think this is a chance for Jones to show something.

Remember how bad Gudbranson looked in the first game of preseason 2 years ago? Good times

Best to expect the Flames to look like a mess defensively.

Huska is moving away from man to man d system to a zone defense. So going to be some miscues while the players learn and coaches make adjustments.

One big change on the ice this year is the team flipping from a man-to-man defensive scheme to a zone approach.

"There's changes with it, for sure," explained Huska. "The principles behind it are the same for us; we don't want to spend time in our zone. That part of it is not changing. What we ask our d-men to do, that'll be something that changes, and I think the most important person will be our centremen on the ice.

"So they're the guys, I think, we have to spend the most time with, because they're the ones that have the harder reads in regards to their coverage and who they have to pick up, and they way they see the game but that's one of the beauties of our team. When you look at our guys down the middle, you probably consider them our smartest players. So that's why we kind of feel like making subtle adjustments along the way will work for us.

"There's going to be some trial and error for sure because guys are kind of se in their ways, but that's something we're going to continue working on every day."

I think there are a few kids to get excited about. I hope this Solovyov kid can show something. Would love to see a young D man push for a spot.

This could very well be a pretty fun Flames team to watch this year. Football, hockey and baseball on all day? Wife just loving me right now.

Which is why, if this team wants to achieve any level of success, Lindholm needs to re-up with them.

As great as Backlund is defensively, Lindholm is very close but also has offensive abilities MB doesn't possess.

It was an issue last season as well, the team suffered defensively in their own end not because of the Dmen, but because the forwards, and particularly the C's, weren't in position to help enough.

Its actually something that is easily fixable, but it will take time to brain train the team to the point it becomes second nature and not something they have to "think" their way through.

HOCKEY!!!!

That's a heck of a lineup for game 1 of the pre-season. Bunch of guys that I am interested in watching:

Huberdeau with Lindholm
Sharangovich
Ruzicka on the wing with Kadri (would be found money if that works)
Coronato
Jones
Zary
Oesterle with Tanev

I mean, for an exhibition game on the road, this is a really interesting lineup

More consistent goaltending, better defensive zone coverage, and an improved PP, and this team is as good as any in the division, with the exception of a healthy Vegas.
