Good deal for him to sign as a 35 year old (36 when the season starts). Should have well over 400 goals and 1200 points when it wraps.

Expires just in time for them to offer draisaitl a huge deal. Or McDavid the following year

Perfect comparable for a Lindholm contract.

Not really

Lindholm isn’t going to take that term or money

More of a comparable for Backlund. If Kopitar is making 7 Backlund probably shouldn’t be. Not sure what ages each deal would cover for each player though.

Huh, I was certain they were going to be a contender for Matthews next year. I guess this puts a bit of a damper on it, considering they have Kopitar, Dubois, and Doughty making so much. As another poster said, can always go for Draisaitl the year after I guess.

Draisaitl and PLD will make for a pretty formidable 1-2 punch at center.

So long as the puck is in the other team's zone. Good thing they have Danault.

Right from Stauffer’s mouth they are expected to make a big push for Draisaitl. It’s why the Oilers are trying to go all-in as they know he’s gone in two years. Personally I would wait another year for McDavid but there will be a lot of competition for his services.

I'm sure the Rangers will back up the Brinks truck and land McDavid, like they do with everyone. Not a doubt in my mind.

I still wonder if majority of teams will offer McDavid max dollars x max term. If I were the Flames, I'd do it in the off chance he wants to sign here. Even if teams are tight against the cap, I'm sure they'd prefer to sign him first and then worry about how to move pieces out after.

Kopitar got 10 more points than Lindholm last season despite being an old man.

Why should we pay more for less?

New York has $20 million coming off the books between Panarin and Trouba just in time for McDavid to become a UFA.

It's a cute idea but no way in any multiverse are the Flames competing with that. It's way too convenient for them.

I wouldn't. McDavid is going to be two years older than Gretzky at the time of the trade to Los Angeles by then.
