What the actual hell is going on in Detroit? Is Stevie drinking the tap water from Flint?

I wouldn't go that far.
He's a serviceable offensive minded d-man who is best suited to 2nd pairing or lower and makes a lot happen on the power play. In isolation, if he just signed Ghost today and none of those other guys, it'd be a fine day. A 1 year deal isn't a problem. It's compounded by all the other longer term deals at relatively high price points.
A day after everyone was literally giving players away to get under the cap, and Yzerman is spending like a drunken freshman away from home for the first time.
