Battered Blackhawks look to cool off Flames

On Saturday, the Blackhawks announced Bedard had suffered a fractured jaw and placed him on injured reserve.

"It's definitely hard to wrap our heads around," Chicago's Ryan Donato said. "It's so fresh still for us to realize what's going on, but we hope the best for him and hopefully we can keep the guys positive."

Teammate Nick Foligno also was placed on injured reserve with a fractured left finger sustained during a second-period fight with Smith.

Taylor Raddysh (groin), Tyler Johnson (right foot), and Anthony Beauvillier (left wrist) left games with injuries earlier in the trip.

Markstrom has a save percentage north of .930 in his last seven starts since returning from injury.

“He's been a brick wall for us,” said Mackenzie Weegar, who scored for the Flames. “He's a leader for us, he's so positive. That game, I think, could've gotten a little out of hand if he wasn't there for us tonight. The whole time that he's come back, he's been outstanding for us and we was definitely our best player tonight.”

Probably not much different than we feel as Flames fans. The Flames can beat any team when they're on but there's the same chance that they lose. At least hawks fans know they're getting another elite prospect at the end of the season. Flames fans don't know if the team will sell their pending UFA'S or sign them and trade picks to make it in because "anything can happen!!!"
