Kings Draft Recap
#14 Axel Sandin Pellikka D
The only time I saw this player play (on TV) he controlled the ice for both teams. Everyone on the ice was reacting to what he was doing, or his positioning led the play. So, that's all I really needed to see. You can have all of the skill in the world, but there are very few that can make a difference just through presence.
#33 Gavin Brindley C/RW
In the original Ice Hockey on the Nintendo, you had the option of going with a team of little guys. Brindley is undersized, but plays a Brenden Gallagher style of game. Maybe a bit more natural skill than Gallagher, but the same tenacity and fearlessness. I just have to remember to trade him before he breaks, right after signing his final big RFA contract.
#61 Alex Ciernik LW
Other than Moore and Wallinder, the fastest player in the draft. What sets him apart is that he can handle the puck effectively at speed. Could turn out to a wizard at gaining the zone, which would plant him on a powerplay at any level. The knock against him is his defense, which is why he's a late 2nd, early 3rd pick. If he can learn that side of the game, he'll be a solid pickup.
#71 Aydar Suniev LW
Power forward with only one weakness in his game. He literally does everything well, offensive side and defensive side. His skating mechanics are weak. He's leaving the BCHL for University of Masitu####s in the NCAA, and if they could fix his skating, he is a first round talent. Went under the Aydar.
#82 Noah Dower Nilsson C/LW
The opposite player to his brother, who is a defensive centre. Noah is an offense all the time player, and has one of the best shots in the draft class. If he can find a coach to staple a team game into his brain, he could be a real asset. I now have all of the Dower Nilsson's on the Kings, which is our version of landing Bedard.
