Gallant coached Huberdeau in Saint John and Florida.

He’s not going to come cheap with CGY so I don’t think he would be a candidate. If he is, i’d be happily surprised.

Add him to my wanted list as a HC here. I don’t know why he keeps getting let go, but he’s always had good seasons under his belt and even took an expansion team to the cup in their first season. I think he would do well here and the fact that Scorp mentions his early affiliation with Huberdeau makes me want him more for this club.

Interview Love first and see if he’s the right guy. If not, I want us to at least interview GG. The better GG.

Maybe the coach at the bottom of my list. There's not much difference IMO between him and Sutter. He goes through teams faster if anything.

He has an interesting pattern

Up until now, he was fired mid season in his third season as head coach. Each time.

Columbus, Florida and Vegas

Looks like the Rangers got ahead of it by a partial season

This guy keeps winning mostly everywhere he goes and then after 2, sometimes 3 seasons, he's gone. There's something causing this pattern, but I have zero idea.

The carousel he's been on lately has me concerned, especially how he always seems to be let go while his teams are still competitive and on the rise.

I'd lean to staying away.

I would rather see us promote Love and commit to him beyond what might be an uncertain first season with him. Having a young, next generation coach that the organization can commit to. Unless he's an absolute tire fire of course.

All three 2022 Jack Adams finalists have now been fired.

Sounds eerily familiar. I know some say he’s on their wish list but maybe let’s not go directly back down the same path?

Please no! He is a good coach, but this team needs fresh perspectives. I really want them to promote from within Conroy or Pascal and Love or Huska.

Give the GM a ten year contract and the coach a five. No more lame ducks. Ditch players that are uncoachable.

Flames are so old fashioned; crusty old building, dusty old offices, re-treaded free agents so I hope they don't go old school with the coach hire.

If they do these two hires right the team will be firing on all cylinders in time for the new arena (deja vu).

Just say no to recycled coaches!

Time for the Flames to promote from within with guys like Mitch Love.

Not interested. He is just like Boudreau you will get one good year out of him then it gets progressively worse. There is a reason he has a short shelf life.

It only makes sense if they are all in for next year but with the GM/coach change they likely want to make a more long term move

Are the Flames the only team this offseason that didn't say the coach leaving was a "mutual' decision?

No thanks, he can’t even take a stacked Rangers team anywhere.

Saw someone point this out on Twitter: All three Jack Adams nominees from last year are now all fired a year later

You have to think there’s a seismic shift in how coaches contracts are signed coming. The new generation of players have no fear of coaches, and basically just tune out a coach they are tired of listening to, until that coach is axed.

This would seem to pave the way for contracts to get much shorter moving forward. 2 year deals will become the norm, just given the mindset of the current breed NHLers.

New York Rangers head coach Gerard Gallant and general manager Chris Drury had a heated altercation after the club's Game 4 loss to the New Jersey Devils in the first round, reports The Athletic's Arthur Staple.

The Rangers lost the contest 3-1 on home ice, letting the Devils equalize the series after the Blueshirts won the first two games. New Jersey ultimately took the series in seven.

Gallant's job security has been in question since New York's demoralizing elimination to one of its biggest rivals, prompting him to defend himself at his end-of-season interview on Wednesday.

"I can't believe I have to answer some of these questions about me getting fired, brought up by the media," Gallant said. "Disappointing."
Seems like he's had run-ins with management on every team that he's coached.

Stay far away

I think the Rangers hire Q, assuming he gets permission from Bettman to return
