Hark!! and its not angels..Iginla is no longer a Flame!!
on the eve of Christmas eve, the Calgary Flames may well have made a deal that will come back to haunt them.
The player who has never been traded before has been traded today!!
Jarome Iginla is heading to the sunshine state to wear similar colours but definately a different uniform.
"This is the hardest deal that I have ever had to make. Even when I was the Devils GM, trading Brodeur to chicago at that time was tough. But trading the Flames Captain, the superstar of the CPHL and NHL was an extremely difficult decision to make. No so much as because he is an excellent hockey player, but because Iggy is the heart and soul of the Flames whether its here or in the NHL." Axmann was quoted as saying.
If you can all recall the trade that sent Gretzky to LA in the NHL..I feel like Wiener did as he was sitting at the table. I have a tissue in hand and this one really hurts.
going to florida is
Jarome Iginla and Martin Biron...
coming to calgary,
Jeff Oneill, Richard Zednick and Kimmo Timonen, a first round pick plus .38M in cash.
I need to get some depth and spread the scoring around, thats what this team needed. Iggy was doing it all and well I need to switch that up.
I think we have one of the best d's in the league and I hope a good re rate of Kipper is forthcoming. I cant seem to get a goalie to play more than one game without getting hurt.
anyhow, there you have it..Iggy is a Panther...gawed it hurts to say it.
I await your thoughts.
thanks to Grant for his insights.

Good deal for both teams. The Panthers are one of the few CPHL teams that could afford to give up this type of package for Iginla. But it also gives them a great topend player which they need to compete with the Bruins and Thrashers.
Flames in my opinion needed more quality players throughout their lineup and they got this in the deal.
Congrats guys - nice big chunky deal!

Panthers Land Jarome Iginla
It took about a month but Jarome Iginla is finally a Florida Panther. GM Dave Penney finally decided to up the ante to have the CPHL leading scorer on his team. With the addition of Iginla, the Panthers now have the 1st and 3rd highest goal scorers in the entir CPHL, making for a great dynamic duo that should give teams fits.
"Iginla is a team leader and a dominant force" said Penney. "After Milan Hejduk failed to step it up, we felt that we still needed a dominant force that every team in the league would have trouble shutting down. Today we feel that we have that player" said Penney.
After much line shuffling this season, it is expected that Iginla will see 1st line duties with Mike Modano. Miroslav Satan will stay on the 2nd line in the hopes that he can conintue his scoring ways.
"We gave up some quality guys to get Iginla but in the end we had the team depth to do this kind of a trade" said Penney.
"We fully expect that Mike VanRyn will be able to step up in the very near future and take over Timmonen's spot on the second line after his rerate" said Penney. "however, if Vanryn doesn't get the rerate he deserves, we could be in some trouble on the blueline".

Big deal for sure. Finally a trade worth noting. Maybe this will inspire some more deals in what has been a boring period of time.
