Klingberg (50% retained) to Wild for 2025 4th, Sustr, and rights to Nesterenko

Not a bad pickup by the Wild. Sucks needed to move him. That was the whole purpose of the signing last off season

Especially sad considering the Ducks will end up paying more than $6 million in salary for basically a mid round pick.
They signed him with the intent of getting good assets at the deadline

Is Nesterenko the main piece here? Or is he more of a Mark Condari type throw-in?

He isn't even ranked in all the Wild top prospect lists I have seen.

Wheeler didn't have him in the top 15 Wild prospects, only among the honorable mentions. So, not sure if you could consider him or the 4th as the main piece ... it's a sad return either way lol.

Klingberg really should have signed a long term deal with Dallas when he had the chance.
Bit of a loss for the Ducks to. They are basically paying ~5.5 million in real dollars for a 4th round pick. You'd have to think they were hoping for a heck of a lot more when they signed Klingberg to that 1 year "we're gonna flip you at the deadline" deal.

Remember when he signed with the Ducks and they were so shrewd because they would be getting a first for him

I like it! One of our competitors just acquired perhaps the worst D man in his own zone in the entire league. Can't wait for him to bleed goals for Minny.

Is anyone else reminded of the Promo's for the "Wayne and Shuster Show" when you read the name Sustr thinking that's how its pronounced.

That exchange could have been right out of Wayne and Shuster.

na uh...he is the second worst D man in his own zone in the entire league, the first belongs to the $9.2M D man up north.

Imagine if Dallas caved and gave him the huge long term deal he thought he deserved?

I wish the NHL had what had MLB has with their official-ish prospect rankings across teams and the league. Obviously it's not an exact science and some will be off, but it's nice as a casual fan when a trade goes down to better understand the value of player names you've never heard of.
"Team X traded player A (known MLB'er) for 1st round pick and player B who's the 2nd ranked prospect on team Y and 32nd ranked prospect in the league".

Thought it was interesting Lebrun said that the oilers tried to do the same thing the ducks did last summer
Only they wanted a 3rd team, montreal, to sign him and then trade him to edmonton at 50% retained in return for something
Not a bad idea
