Trotz coached the preds from 98-14 and has never been a GM before but has obviously been around as a coach for a while. Pretty interesting

Coach Hynes should be concerned, Trotz has had eyes on a dual role

Good for him to be retiring on his own terms. Not too many have longevity even close to what he has, and it seems like most are dismissed by an organization and go into retirement that way.
Trotz is a really good coach IMO. Obviously GM is a different thing all together, but I don't think you are around as long as he has been without picking up a lot of knowledge. I expect he will do well.

This will make Treliving the 4th longest active general manager in the league (currently 5th) if Treliving stays on as Flames GM.
Hell of a run for Poile. Hard to imagine someone holding the post that long these days.

Poile is 73. Might just be time to hang 'em up.

He is 73 years old. Eventually you would want to enjoy some time off.

I’d like to see Trotz and Boudreau share behind the bench.

Poile began his career in the NHL as an Administrative Assistant with the then expansion Atlanta Flames in 1972. Five years after joining the Flames organization he was named as the assistant general manager. Sadly, he became GM of Washington just before the Flames won the cup.

Probably the right time for Poile given the team is in a bit of a rebuild. It will be interesting to see how Trotz fares as a GM. I wonder if Korn makes his way back to Nashville as their director of goaltending.

Tell that to 80-year-old Lou Lamoriello.

It's like a baseball player ending his career on a last at bat home run.
