Seems like a very cheap price
I’d be pretty disappointed if Toffoli got traded this week for just a 2nd.

Toffoli is better than Niederreiter
Niederreiter’s production is more like Blake Coleman level

Good trade for Winnipeg.

Steep price to me for the player (though inline with deadline acquisitions), but he's a good add regardless.

Easier for the Preds to pull the plug this year, they are only on pace for 91 points which won’t make it as the Wild are on pace for 97 points. The Flames are in a more uncertain spot as they are on pace for 92 points and are still in the hunt.

Good trade for the jets, imo. They're a decent team that needs support players. I'm just glad the Flames didn't give up assets for a rental.

I know Friedman loves to troll with his abbreviations but WIN? That's too far.

He's going to have his 7th 20 plus goal season so yeah in line with Toffoli with better wheels.

Niederreiter is singed for next season as well, so not a pure rental. The salary is fairly reasonable as well.
I think he style will fit in well with the Jets.

That is a good deal for the Jets though, only a 2nd for a 40 point guy, signed for one more year.

so given that, would we be keen to start moving the likes of Toffoli for a 2024 2nd? I'm not sure that moves the needle for me, (at least to a degree that can't be accomplished in the offseason or next trade deadline)

Proper abbreviation usage seems to be of no importance to the rest of the media world anymore so his trolling just blends in with the mass of pea brain society. Sportsnet now uses CBJ for Columbus, NAS for Nashville, and WAS for Washington. Grinds my gears.

Toffoli has a great contract and he has won a cup.
Toffoli
Tanev
Those two get you a 1st round pick this season they move the needle for a contender and are signed for another season.
We have good assets but the question is do we want to trade them because we don't have anyone in the pipeline to fill those roles and the picks will be late 1st rounders.

I suspect Toffoli gets a little more as he has consistently scored about 25% more goals than Nino throughout his career, but that being said I think it depends on what you do with the cap space. The Coyotes in the off-season got two second round picks for taking on Patrick Nemeth and his 2.5 million salary for two seasons. Freeing up cap space to take on contracts and getting maybe a 1st rounder like the Habs did this offseason also has value.

ok fair enough- just above you were hinting (honestly not meaning this as a barb against you) that NN was Toffoli with better wheels
just trying to settle on Toffoli's trade value- if it is a 2024 2nd, I'm in no rush, you can get a better return at next year's deadline
if he's a late first even then- not sure you can't get that again next year- so I guess its whether its worth dismantling now (there are pros and cons to this) and starting to deal with next years cap problem now or not

Not true.
Coleman: .42 PPG
Niederreiter: .50
Toffoli: .625
Niederreiter has had a couple of Toffoli-like seasons, but he has also been more like Coleman, more often.
