Default Flames talk on Missin' Curfew today - Shane O'Brien Question

Just a heads up... Some Flames talk on Missin Curfew today with Shane O'Brien and Scotty Upshall. I was a guest on the show so it was actually me doing the Flames talk and beer league Beer League Players Association ... it sure sounds like O'Brien didn't like living in Calgary. I should have asked but does anyone know if there's bad blood or?

but lastly the boys did agree the puck was in in '04.

Coles notes on what he said? I hate to ask, but it's a 90 min podcast.

Was it the city or the team?

I don't recall anything specifically but he played in about 50 games before being sent to the AHL for the first time since he was a rookie, so that probably wasn't a great experience. I'm guessing Hartley probably didn't like him either.

They asked about the Flames. And a couple of times he mentioned "living in Calgary" and would make a snide remark like dunno why I'd do that again. Or....
I chirped Markstom with the "I don't know how you can go from being a Vezina Calbre goalie to Mike Smith in one year" and he said "Calgary will do that to you".

I'll see if I can upload the video portion of my segment only to Youtube and post it here.

If you thought the SpittinChiclets podcast was a bunch of ######bags, the Missin' Curfew podcast takes it to another level from what I've heard.

IIRC, O'brien once (likely more than once) spoke out against Hartley. I think he tried to stand up for Baertschi after seeing how Hartley treated Svan so poorly.

People with better rememberies than me can fill in the blanks.

Spittin Chiclets won't let me on to talk tho I have to take what I can get.

But really MC was looking to do some beer league stuff and brought me in bc of the following BLPA has. However they did cut out the a story all the beer leaguers get a kick out of. It was about the time I got in trouble because "someone left 6 baggies of cocaine" at a rink. I don't do/ no have I ever done cocaine but the story details a nice exchange between myself and an RCMP officer.

He's a big SoCal guy, so probably hates temperatures below 60°. Can't stand the guy on NHL Network Radio

Does it really matter what O'Brien says about Calgary?
Most of us wouldn't live in half of those s-hole cities in the US...lol

Are you saving that story for a podcast or are you going to share it here?

I do not care what two absolute units of human trash in SOB and Scottie Upshall think about anything.

I have told it before and at every draft tournament party we do. I can tell it again but it's a lot to type. I'll tell it on my own podcast next week and send you the link.

Boo freaking hoo, SOB didn't like living in Calgary.
A lot of Stanley Cup winning former Flames chose to retired in Calgary, I'll take those opinion of our city than S freaking OB.

which US cities that you are talking about are "s-holes"?

I don't think the NHL operates in any markets like that.

Shane O'Brien was known for his escapades at the Roxy in Vancouver as a party animal during his tenure as a Canuck.

No doubt, he probably wasn't impressed with the Calgary club scene.

He was here at the "bottom out" period of the rebuild, he was very bad, he had a bad relationship with the coach, and I think they bought him out? The Flames and management, Hartley and/or Burke were super unimpressed with him and actually slammed him in media on the way out, alluding to off ice stuff. It's been a decade though so details might be off. But I just remember being shocked about slamming a guy like our management did after getting rid of him. There was bad blood and he's obviously got sour grapes.

Buffalo and St. Louis are the only two I can think of, that being said most places are likely pretty nice if you are making millions of dollars per year in your twenties.

When the line brawl happened in Vancouver Burrows definitely pointed it out in a not so subtle way.

I don't think player or organization were particularly satisfied with the match, and I don't think either was particularly heart-broken when they bought him out. Sometimes things just aren't a great fit.
