Bring on the playoffs - hopefully the Flames get in. I'm curious how Seattle will go in their first postseason appearance, and a couple of tantalising series from the east - Toronto vs Tampa, and the Battle of New York should be fun too (assuming the Canes win the Metro).

If Minnesota was to beat Vegas in RT and the Greease win against Anaheim all 3 teams would be at 99 points. If Dallas and L.A. also win they'd both be at 98 points. Still pretty intriguing how close the top teams are to each other.

The Jets' last two games of the season are against Minny and Colorado - we need the race to remain tight so that those games matter to them.

Same with Nasville. Hopefully those games have meaning to the Avs and Wild to either win the Division or get home ice

The pesky predators are up 1-0.

Edit: Now up 2-0. Blues stink!

Part of me wants the Preds to win.

Hear me out. I know that would put them to writhin one of CGY in this race. But they got a tough sked ahead and a bleak outlook because of their injuries. If they lose today, they could be 7 out after tomorrow if WPG wins. That all but gives them nothing to play for.

They play Winnipeg next week. We need WPG to lose to them in regulation. If Nashville is checked out by next Saturday which is possible, then WPG probably walks all over them.

So a little short term pain here with Nashville creeping back in the mix for some long term gain with Nashville having a lot to play for come next week Vs WPG.

Good logic VFF, never thought about it that way. Part of me just wants WPG and NSH to lose out but I know that's not practical. At least NSH win today doesn't allow them to pass CGY, that's pretty much psychological though.

And for all case and purpose, on paper, this home game vs STL is the easiest game the Preds have through the rest of the season.

Preds with a 2-0 lead after 1. Have to give them their due for how they've hung in there. I wonder if their fans are livid that they didn't nose dive for Bedard?

The Preds are not a threat to take the final spot - they have to play 5 games vs elite teams. They'll be lucky to get 5 points from those 5 games. The only threat they pose is the game on the 10th where they could deny the Flames 2 points.

Preds are stomping the Blues. They are not going away. Should be a wild finish in the west.

Elite teams often don't play elite in the final games of the season though. Can't really count on anything at this time of the season.

The stats seem to agree.
MoneyPuck has the Predators at only a 4.6% chance of making the playoffs (before today's win).

Calgary, who now has a slightly worse record, is at 31.5%.

But because of Saros, you can never really count them out.

The Bruins are up 3-2. Pastrnak has a pair of goals and has 55 goals on the season!
