He seems like a natural fit with Panarin. The Rangers will also have $16-19M in the off-season, so I can see him re-signing there.
I still that P. Kane is the better(and cheaper) fit on the Flames.

At least it wasn't to a team in the west.

Rangers look like they will be a powerhouse for the next few years if they maintain this roster.

It's garbage. The team can't develop any of their own players, but so many of other team's players want to play for them that they don't need to.

I thought the Rangers looked good, but not elite against the Flames and Canucks. But now. Zibanejad passing to Panarin is pretty elite. Now with Tarasenko?

7 weeks of P. Kane in Calgary will be far too expensive no matter the cost.
Sadly, this year isn't it.

They're definitely out on Kane. They have $4.5M in cap space and Tarasenko has a $7.5M cap-hit, so either STL retains salary, or there are players going the other way.

Why the feck would anyone want Kane when he is playing injured? I don't get this. The guy is scoring at a decent clip, but no where near as effective as the real "Patrick Kane". Who knows what you get when he arrives.

I agree, but I don't expect the Flames to make rational decisions. Also, the Flames were collecting ex cup winning hawks for a while. Frolik, Brouwer, Versteeg, and Bollig.

The reason I think Kane is a good fit, is that he's good at transition and a PP specialist. Essentially everything Gaudraeu brought. I realize it won't be the same, but that's what they're missing.

Neither of Kane or Tarasenko would likely waive to go to Calgary anyway so it's not like the Flames lost out on anything realistic here.

Well this was a trade so the "because its new york" argument doesn't really count
But I want to reiterate that I still don't see the appeal of new York whatsoever. Would be one of the last places I would go to live. Players have interesting tastes for sure.
