The Flames are well aware that Monday night will center on their former teammate, but the trip down memory lane must be secondary to the club that is just outside a playoff spot.
Calgary, which lost a 3-1 game to the Blue Jackets last month in Columbus, will be looking to build off Saturday's impressive 6-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
"Right from the start, I thought we were really good," forward Dillon Dube said. "Every shift, we didn't take too many off, and we played the right way. There was a lot of compete from the guys today. We were really prepared to play and prepared to win. It was a really good job by our group."
"They love their team and that's why I loved playing there so much and I loved being part of that organization for 12, 13 years. It's going to be fun going back."
The 29-year-old forward was selected by the Flames in the fourth round (No. 104) of the 2011 NHL Draft and played his first nine seasons in Calgary before informing the team on July 12 that he would test free agency, expressing a desire to be closer to his family in New Jersey. The next day, when the signing period began, he surprisingly agreed to a seven-year, $68.25 million contract ($9.75 million average annual value) with the Blue Jackets.
BOTTOM LINE: The Calgary Flames and the Columbus Blue Jackets hit the ice in a non-conference matchup.
Calgary has a 22-16-9 record overall and a 13-8-2 record in home games. The Flames have gone 8-8-5 in games their opponents serve fewer penalty minutes.
Columbus has a 3-15-1 record in road games and a 14-30-2 record overall. The Blue Jackets have gone 10-15-1 when they commit more penalties than their opponent.
Thanks for the memories!

If they could bring the energy from last game, that'd be great. If Flames play up to their potential, Columbus has zero chance winning. This season you just never know which team will show up. Maybe betrayed Dome crowd will get our boys buzzing, GO FLAMES GO!

Hope he gets a standing ovation for his video tribute. Also hope flames don’t look past this game . Columbus is horrid. Can’t let 2 easy points slip away

If we were sitting comfortably in a playoff spot I would say boo him non stop. Since we are in a dog fight I just care about the win. He could get 4 goals and if we win 5-4 I'm happy.
