Default Blues 4 Flames 3 (OT)

Blues 4 Flames 3 (OT)

- Flames start slow but build up 3-1 lead after 40
- Face plant in the third on a botched rebound by Markstrom
- Lose in overtime on a turnover with the "good" group on the ice
- Bubble season continues

Through two periods it looked like a textbook road effort. The 2nd goal wasn’t good but I don’t understand why this team gets on its heels at the flip of the coin as they were an inch away (with the offside overturn) from giving up three quick goals due to a total lack of composure. Frustrating loss.

I’m splitting hairs but I didn’t like the third goal. Goalies get screened, so it comes down to positioning and reflexes.

Regardless the entire team was just really bad in the third against a very weak opponent. And that’s about their best players. Huberdeau is just becoming a huge mystery to me.

Win the next one please. The top 3 in the division are pulling away.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the game against the Blues in Calgary follow a similar script where the Flames outplayed them in the first two periods and then fell apart in the third?

Good writeup

One quibble - You may think about using stats from natural stat trick for xGA

They seem to match reality better
