Default Wanting to remove alcohol from house - what to do?

We don't drink much anymore, less and less as years go by. Maybe a bottle of wine at a dinner every few months.

I have a 40+ mostly unopened bottles of hard liquor. At this point mostly gifts that have just been collected. Some cheap stuff, some fancier stuff (nothing truly fancy). Since alcohol isn't much of a part of our lives, I don't see any need to keep it in the house anymore.

If it was food, I would obviously donate it to people in need. It feels weird to pour down the drain, but not sure what to do with it.

Drop it off outside of University residence and watch with a stopwatch. We can all place bets on how long it lasts

Yeah, just show up on the U of C campus on BSD with a wheelbarrow full of booze.

It'd be like watching Hyenas devour an Antelope.

Kinda in the same boat, only about 20-30 bottles of scotch and whiskey, some brandy - about half opened

I thought about DMing a mod to see if selling them is cool, but I never got past thinking about it

Same as you got it. Give them as gifts over time. Birthdays, dinner parties, Christmas, thank yous, etc.

How old are you guys? Do you still go to any parties where a bottle of liquor would be a good gift? I suppose if they're already opened then it might not work. Do you enjoy recipes that use alcohol?

Maybe post pics and see if there are any takers? I like a nice cognac.

Dump it all in the bathtub and add some canned fruit. Invite over a fraternity.

Ask coworkers, friends or family. Chances are you know someone who would be happy to take them off your hands.

Hold on, what kind of scotch are we talking about? Send me a DM if you want to unload some of that!

My grandson’s soccer team made up liquor baskets and raffled them off to raise funds, maybe reach out to your favourite sports club to donate.

^great idea. My daughter is a solo equestrian and it’s hard to fundraise. I would make this happen with any unopened bottles that would be donated

If interested I can pick up and raffle off and let you know how it goes.

I'm of the opinion that it's always polite to bring a small gift like a bottle of wine when someone has you over to their place for dinner or some sort of event. So you can sub these unopened bottles in lieu of wine if they're into that type of liquor. Plus, birthdays and Christmas gifts too.

For the opened ones, just ask your friends or neighbours (or Locke The Human Fund) if they want it, otherwise down the drain it goes.
