Thumbs up Michael Frickin' Stone

This guy has been here for years. By all accounts, he's a great teammate.

Here's some of the stuff he's dealt with in Calgary:

- Battled through a blood clot
- Bought out
- Took a huge paycut
- Relegated to taxi squad duty
- Sent to the AHL
- Played just 11 games all year

Dude had eight shots on goal tonight in just over 10 minutes of ice time. That's unreal.

Stone has been a breath of fresh air in his appearances this year, so solid, and now he's coming up big when it matters most. What a player, so glad he's still a Flame.

Love watching the Stone cannon firing. Don’t know why he’s been so satisfied with his role when he clearly still has more to give. Hopefully he can have a couple more solid games for the red team.

Reliable at worst, and usually better than that. And a great teammate. I wonder when Zad and Gudbranson sign elsewhere if he'll get a shot as 5/6?

When he doesn’t hit the net with the big shot he’s knocking down trees in front. Luv it!

I don't wish injury on players but Stone's slapper into Radulov was...cathartic.

Sutter brought him in to get some bombs on goal and he delivered.

He always steps up and does his job. What a guy. > Mark Stone

Having Stone as the Extra D is genius. When the Flames get into penalty trouble he can fill in perfectly.

Pro’s pro.

Preservence and to come in and play at a higher speed high pace game then he’s played as a Flame last year, and not be a step out of place after 11 games in 9 months says a lot about the man as a man and teammate with his work rate and commitment,

And one wonders why Sutter and others aren’t enthralled with a player like Valamaki snivelling in the minors about not getting a fair shot.

He was a pretty highly touted prospect. But then injuries. Arizona gave up on him. And the Flames gave up on him. Could see him having a late-career renaissance.

I don't know how he manages to hardly play, but can always step in and do well. We're lucky to have him.

Hard to dislike a player like Michael Stone. Tough player with a hard shot, I’m glad the Flames kept him, the type of player that really throws the other team for a loop.

He’s like a modern day Freddie Hamilton who doesn’t require his brother get him NHL employment.

By all accounts he works hard in practice, obviously stays in game-ready shape, and hasn’t put on too many miles these last 3-4 seasons.

And the clapper looks as strong as ever:

Except for when he took down Radulov, which was satisfying

How can you not cheer for stone. Doesn’t play for long stretches of time, then gets tossed in and handles business.

I’ve thought he’s looked every bit as good as Gudbranson or Zadorov when he gets a spot in the lineup.

I only see one Stone in the playoffs this year and it ain't Mark. Michael is best Stone confirmed.

My kidding aside, he's been a beast for us for years and especially this season. He's always accepting of his role as a (rather lethal) depth piece. Always ready to jump right into the lineup and makes an impact every time.
