Animal deathmatch, what would you chose?
Just a thread to kill some time,
Myself and a couple of friends were having a discussion, and it somehow turned into this. I thought I would come to CP and see what everyone thinks.
Here is the situation: You are find yourself in a deathmatch with a certain animal. Don't ask why. You have no way out but to slay the beast.
It's just you vs. "x" animal, until 1 of you remains. It is in a contained environment with no outside assistance, and no foreign objects. Dehydration and hunger are non-factors.
In which one of the following would you have the best chance of making it out alive?
1. You vs. Lion
2. You vs. Elephant
3. You vs. Polar Bear
4. You vs. Great White Shark
For option 4, it will be in a large aquarium. However, there will be a ledge you can stand on above water so exhaustion from swimming is a non-factor.
Would the elephant be the easiest choice?

Definitely take the elephant. As I've already explained to you, its the only one without the killer instinct, you could wait until it was asleep and do something. Or you could get on its back and the elephant would be defenseless. Lion would probably be the second easiest, I don't think you would have a chance against a shark.

Lion.
There would be absolutely no way you could slay the elephant with your bare hands. Impossible to get the tusks out of it and stab it, really no matter what you did, you couldn't physically beat it.
In the end it would be a stalemate.
The Lion you could at least have a chance to wrap your arms around its neck and squeeze, either in a headlock or direct throat strangulation. The Lion could easily shread you, but it is the only animal you have a real chance of doing damage to without any foriegn objects and killing.
There would be no way to overpower the shark in the water, that is out.
The Polar would be far more powerful than the lion, I think you'd have a better chance with the lion.

I'd have to say elephant, I think you would have to best chance to get away from it and it maybe less likely to kill you than the other three. Next would be the lion atleast its more you size...
For the other two I think the polar bear would kill you less faster than the shark would.

My argument against the elephant is the same one CaramonLS brings up, how would you defeat it?
Sure, it won't kill you as fast as the other 3, but as soon as you mount any sort of an attack on it you're doomed. At least with a Lion or Bear you can go for the eyes and hope for the best.

But with the elephant you have all the time in the world to plan an attack of some sort, or let it tire itself out until it dies. Maybe you could figure out a way to get the elephant to injure itself in a fatal way? I'm just brainstorming here, you could probably come up with more stuff in the actual situation. If you were fighting one of the others you would probably instinctively go into the fetal position and be mauled.
Why didn't you include the crocodile?

I am pretty positive that no one could defeat any of these animals with their bare hands. But I think you would have the best chance of staying alive the longest against the elephant.

That's probably true. What do you think is the toughest animal that you could actually take down? A camel or a horse maybe, what about a smaller cat like a tiger or panther?

I agree, oceans creep me right out, I refuse to swim in them.

I think I could take something like a coyote or maybe a wolve, I can't see bringing anything down bigger than those two.

camel or horse is doable...they have skinny legs that should be easy to snap with a good kick...or at least do some major damage to their knees.
There's no way anyone could take out a tiger or panther. None

I don't know, I think a panther would be easier than a camel. Panthers are insanely vicious, but I don't think they are too big. Camel's are enormous, and probably pretty powerful, plus they spit! A panther you might be able to knock it in the head enough to stun it, then choke it to death?
What do you think would be the absolute hardest animal to take down? I'd say a hippo, they are big and vicious, plus they have a pretty low center of gravity.

Elephant . . . . because its the most intelligent and isn't a natural killer and you could eventually train it and ride around the cage on its back.
