Florida Homecoming A Chance To "Turn The Page" For Flames' Huberdeau, Weegar
The Homecoming hasn’t fully hit Calgary Flames winger Jonathan Huberdeau yet.#
But the emotion was written all over teammate MacKenzie Weegar’s face.#
The two former Florida Panthers return to the place they called home for about a decade. Saturday’s game in Sunrise is a big one.#
Calgary tries to stop road losing streak, takes on Florida
BOTTOM LINE: The Calgary Flames will attempt to stop a four-game road skid when they face the Florida Panthers.
Florida has gone 5-2-1 at home and 9-6-1 overall. The Panthers have a +four scoring differential, with 52 total goals scored and 48 conceded.
Calgary has a 7-6-2 record overall and a 1-3-1 record on the road. The Flames have a 1-4-2 record in games they have more penalties than their opponent.
Sunny days: Panthers' Tkachuk loving Florida vibes as he gears up to face Flames
Asked how well he’s been able to acclimate to south Florida, Matthew Tkachuk had a declaration to make.
“I haven’t worn shoes yet to practice,” said the former Flame, who swapped his Sorels for sandals after triggering a southern migration this summer via the NHL’s first sign-and-trade deal.
“I couldn’t be happier. I’ve absolutely loved my time here, more than I could ever have imagined.
"I had countless great times in Calgary too, but life down here has been pretty great so far.”
Huberdeau, Weegar expect emotional homecoming — and maybe boos — in Florida
“I feel tomorrow it’s probably going to get to me a little bit,” Huberdeau acknowledged. “In the summer, after the trade, I circled that date. Obviously, I want to do well and I want us to win. And after that, it’s turn the page. That’s how it is going to be.”
Echoed Weegar, who spent six seasons surrounded by swaying palms: “I think when we play this game tomorrow and thank everybody or we get the salute or maybe a couple boos … I have no idea what the reception is going to be like. But I think at the end of the day, when the game is all done, it’s kind of the end of the chapter, which is probably the most emotional part about it. But I think we’re ready to move on.”

Matinee?
Homecoming for Hubes and Weegs?
Shakey Flames goaltending?
More than %100 chance of Chuckles doing dirty sh*t to his ex-team?
No Barkov?
Jeez, flip a coin.

We finally get to find out what it's like to play against Tkachuk. I have a feeling any lingering goodwill is drained by 4:30 pm MST.

Apparently Tkachuk had some Flames buddies over for a party. That jerk probably got them all bombed but didn't drink himself.
My wish for today? Zadorov recreates the hit from the 2019 playoffs.

He was sick the last game, I'd guess he will be good to go today.

Losing against a Paul Maurice coached team is unacceptable.
Hopefully it’s a good game at least.

Matthew won’t pull any of his shenanigans against former teammates but I’ll betcha he goes after Weegar or Huberdeau with some of his patented “on the edge” plays. The question I have is who goes back at him? My money is on Kadri or I could possibly see Coleman taking a run at Chucky.

Yes, I will be at this one with my son. You might even see us on the tee-vee, we will be roughly on the blue line about 2 rows above the visitor's entrance.
I ordered a Flames Huberdeau jersey, but the sizing obviously changed recently because it's almost 2 sizes too big. Cannot be worn in public. I now need to decide if I should go with the current jersey scheme Monahan or the classic '09 Iginla.
Mods, if we could do a poll...
