Predators 4 Flames 1
Predators 4 Flames 1
- Flames listless in the first period and early second give up 3-0 lead
- Find their legs in the second half but too little too late
- Top line struggles
- Markstrom keeps it close

I'm already sick and tired of hearing going out on the road is the answer. Generally speaking, road teams have a poorer record than home teams do so if the players are thinking getting on the road will magically change their fortunes, they're in for a rude wake up call. This is a professional sports team - do your job. Sutter and the players have talked about making the dome a tough place to play. With over a fifth of their home schedule complete by Saturday, they'll have to rip it up over their remaining home games.
Also, the Flames had an identity right out of the gate last year; this year I don't see one and, honestly, don't see what it would they'd even be attempting to identify as.

Something seems off the last 2 or 3 games. Zero intensity.
Most alarming thing is Huberdeau and Lindholm are like ghosts.

I knew it was going to be one of those games when Jankowski scored in his first period of the season. It was a sign from the hockey gods. I think it would be wise for Sutter to go back to the lines that started the season as the team has looked terrible the past two games.

It is not that playing on the road is in itself somehow easier, it is just a lot less distracting. The Flames have literally not left Alberta since the start of training camp, way back in mid-September. That is an absolute eternity in hockey terms, and then to have played only nine games in that time is ridiculous. The reason people think the road will help is because it should get them into a routine, which looks like it is badly needed. Through the first five games the team looked fantastic, and now looks to be getting stale. A bunch of games on the road seems like it could help a lot.

They sure looked like they had the same identity as last year through the first several games. I am not worried that they will get it back.

Not disagreeing with you, I'm just tired of them (if they are and not just fans and media) using it as an excuse. The schedule is what it is - go out and play like you're payed to.
On your second point I also agree. I think it may have been the Vegas game where, even if they had ended up losing the game, I was feeling very confident about their game and that if that was how they were going to play, this team would win its fair share. I like to think I'm not worried either other than they don't look like a team that is about to turn the corner. I hope you and everyone else is right about the road trip.
