Nashville at Calgary

Looking to avoid a third straight defeat, the Flames will try to hand the visiting Predators an eighth loss in their last nine games on Thursday night.

Calgary opened the season with three straight wins, but has dropped three of five since -- all amid its current eight-game home stretch. For a second consecutive contest, the Flames failed to hold on to a third-period lead on Tuesday night. This time, they blew a two-goal edge during the final frame en route to their 5-4 loss versus Seattle.

"These types of situations, we don't want to have that happen later on in the year," Calgary forward Nazem Kadri said of his team's recent third-period struggles.

Nashville looks to stop road losing streak, takes on Calgary

BOTTOM LINE: The Nashville Predators will look to break a three-game road losing streak when they take on the Calgary Flames.

Calgary had a 50-21-11 record overall and a 29-11-8 record at home last season. The Flames allowed 2.5 goals per game while scoring 3.6 last season.

Daily Faceoff Live: Nashville Predators’ early struggles

What’s shocking about this year is really how much Juuse Saros has struggled. Eight games played, .898 save percentage from a guy that is not only a workhorse but is also one of the best goaltenders in the league.

Give the same effort that they did against Seattle and this will get ugly, fast.

I don't expect that though, I expect a focused team. Just give me back the old lines. They all clicked except the top line, and that will come.

I fully expect the team to win tonight and be back to form.

Reason: I'm not able to watch because I have other plans.

I agree with you Baby, this feels like a win and my reasoning is different. Listening to Huberdeau and Sutter talking in the media yesterday was interesting. Huberdeau knows that he isn't playing the way he is capable of and he is hard on himself, I can see the more he buys into what Sutter is selling, the sooner he will be able to start scoring and having more possession in the offensive zone.

Right now he doesn't look fast, doesn't look like he is in control when he is on the ice and I think he will be better tonight. I am worried a bit about Lindholm, like what is his excuse with the lack of production? I just think those guys are out of sync and will take time to get back at it.

Anyway, here is to a Flames win, 4-2 win, Huberdeau with multiple points.

The team doesn't NEED a win, but damn, I would like one just to shut up the doom and gloom on this site.

I always make the mistake of popping into game threads and man people get emotional and say stupid stuff after the smallest of mistakes.

Almost any loss brings these people out in droves.

Man, it's an 82 game season and even the very best teams lose 20+games. Most playoff teams are losing 30 or more.

I didn’t think effort was an issue at all in the Seattle game. Just a few really dumb mistakes at the wrong time. Some guys probably impacted by the weird schedule.

Things are good, they just need to go out and play and not grip the stick too tight. It’ll come tonight.

Weird. I thought Tuesday was Lindholm's best game of the season. He looked much better than Huberdeau, who might have played his worst.

Yeah, he looked a lot better on Tuesday he made plays with the puck he got into his spot in the slot and got a chance, had a nice assist on the Zadorov goal the goal doesn't happen without him making that backhand pass to Toffoli.

A lot of posters said he was a whipping boy, he wasn't a whipping he was legitimately terrible with the puck and looked lost prior to Tuesday,

They looked awful out of the gate, cleaned it up for a bit and then took their foot right off the gas. Mental miscues, cheating on plays, lack of urgency. All on display.
