Halloween 2022 - Game Day Thread
So whats the plans guys? I am very low-key, just handing out candy. Going to hand the reins to my son for a bit and my wife and I are going to check out a haunted house a guy a few doors down built on his driveway.
Due to said, same Haunted House we upped our Candy reserves for the evening. We had more than ever last year and we're thinking this is going to draw a crowd.
I'm thinking this is going to be a banner year, not least for us, but its not terribly cold and we dont really have the evil specter of COVID looming over our heads like the Sword of Damocles.
That being said they'll have to pry my Reese's out of my cold, dead hands.

haven't had treaters in years . kind of a secluded community though . but I got candy this year in case and am ready . make it happen! .. it will make my day to get a group here

I'm a moderate Halloween person at best. I dont like to dress up and I cant be bothered to decorate, but I can admire and appreciate the work and effort and enjoyment that others get out of it.
Besides...its handing out candy to kids and seeing cool costumes. Its fun.

Yeah I got more candy than last year thinking I'll have an increase.
I feel bad for any kid that gets these caramels from Shoppers though, they're terrible. I'll save them for the teens that come late!

we have long driveways and some are gated . I dont blame families at all for going elsewhere lol

Thats an interesting question. I think for me its probably something as mundane as Gum.
We dont get a lot of kids either, I live just off a Golf Course so there is a good long stretch of no houses, so the kids typically take a different route, so we didnt tend to get a lot of kids and purchased candy accordingly, because we dont eat a lot of candy in our household.
Then one year for no obvious reason it just took off and we plain ran out. We were giving out my wife's Lindt bars and those little chocolate balls and then it was down to Gum or travel toothpaste.
We dont chew a lot of gum either, but someone once gave us one of those industrial Costco-sized packs of Gum, giving those out.
It was getting dire because after that it was going to be the leftover beer from those 'Craft Beer' Advent Calendars that are chock full of beer that is entirely undrinkable. You know the ones.

We’ve got full sized chocolate bars, however my wife picked up “back up candy” in case we didn’t have enough. That back up is mini bars, which quickly became first string. If/when we have leftovers it’s not going to be those piddly little things.

We don't get a lot of kids, but we do the house up and have fun - it's my youngest's birthday and it's gotta be the best day for a birthday.
We put Wicker Man up two weeks ago and we'll stuff him with dry ice shortly (I'll post video later). He looks plenty cool now:
Had some fun carving a pumpkin last night:

Halloween here just plain sucks: real secluded street, most neighbours either kill their lights or have given up getting any kids. There's a new family a few doors down, and I tried to warn them but I think the dad missed my point cause he's like "naah, they're still quite young."
