Kulikov had a great season last year, on a great contract and will give them an asset to sell at the trade deadline.

I'm sure that's their intention. But it does set them up with a nice Plan B if the wheels fall off.

Anaheim legit could use him, to run a four vet/two young player pairing scheme this year. I think that they are trying to ice a competitive team, and if the first and second year players down the middle pop, they could be an interesting team to watch. Henrique/Strome/Zegras/Lundstrom/McTavish down the middle. Kulikov slips into the five spot on defense to protect Drysdale or Vaakinienen.
