Your post is pretty vague. Are you implying mass migration of Americans into Canada as the climate changes?
Canada isn't going to escape the climate catastrophe either. Vancouver's international airport will be under water.

True on the vague comment. Mass illegal migration everywhere would be my guess (mostly Europe) and true on the Canadian comment, but we are better off than 90% of the planet.

We are better off than 90% of the planet, with or without illegal immigration or climate change. To have an actual conversation, I think you best explain your hypothesis on the connection between illegal immigration and climate change, what you think will happen and what could be done to prevent those things from happening.

If mass migration because of climate change were to happen there would be a breakdown of geopolitical entities and the concern you raise would be irrelevant. At best it would become a humanitarian crisis and at worst it would become a war over resources. Immigration concerns would be really low on the list of concerns for a government.

There are a lot of models that show Canada could have a net gain from climate change.
Now, these models are all piss in the wind given the complexity of what could come are impossible to model. How do you model part of the Lower Mainland underwater vs a longer growing season? Hell, some models say the eastern portion of our nation may get a shorter growing season along with the cool-off projected to occur in Europe due to climate change.
But, if I am fearful of the future of climate change, I would be much happier here then living in say Australia based on the law of averages of the random articles of models I have seen.

I believe that there might be some type of conflict over resources coming soon...Putin has Europe by the balls with winter coming.

Canada could accommodate Europe's energy needs if we got off our asses and built some energy exporting infrastructure.

Agree 1 million %, but we have the wrong people in power everywhere for that to happen.

If Hollywood has taught me anything, it's that Canada is always the safe haven when the inevitable shirt hits the fan in America. We'll be like balmy California while the US becomes an uninhabitable wasteland.

If anything, climate change will cause future political instability, famine, scarcity, and extremism in many countries. This will spill over to 1st world countries in years to come.

No one bites on pointless nihilism. Screaming into the void is only cathartic for shared experiences, but existential dread rarely manifests in shared forms.
If you really want to get nervous about Canada's situation specifically, consider water availability in the United States.

No kidding...let's just SAY that some type of conflict gets going over energy in Europe, border is crossed and NATO is ok with it. So then if the USA comes for fresh water is that ok too?

The US will come for our resources one day, but we'll be long gone by then (though CP will still be around, I bet!). And Canada will also basically give it to them since we won't be able to stop them.

I watched and was aware of the miniseries h2o, with Paul Gross, that deals with this subject. It was actually pretty good. I was unaware that there are two sequels, one called h2o : Trojan Horse that deals with the annexation of Canada and one called h2o : A Dead Prime Minister that deals with the son of a Prime Minister that passed away that goes on to become a PM himself, and then sells out the country. All from the late 90s and early 00s.
Have zero idea where to stream these. CBC Gem?
