Calgary Flames at Los Angeles Kings 7:30pm TV: SNW, SN1, ESPN - RADIO SN960
Beyond the Boxscore: Flames give fans one hell of a show despite playoff dreams coming to an end
The playoff hopes may have been crushed on the out of town scoreboard, but the Calgary Flames did not let that stop them from earning a 5-4 shootout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights.
Disappointed Flames come up short in bid for playoffs
Despite coming from behind to win yet again on Tuesday night, the red-hot Calgary Flames have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Calgary's thrilling 5-4 shootout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights was not good enough as their fate was sealed earlier in the evening when both the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues won to lock down the two wild-card playoff berths in the Western Conference.
Calgary Flames Need More Offence From Former First-Round Picks
In a bold move aimed at bolstering the Flames offence, Calgary acquired forwards Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost from the Philadelphia Flyers on January 30, 2025. The trade, which sent Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2028 seventh-round pick to Philadelphia, was orchestrated with the expectation that Farabee and Frost would inject much-needed scoring prowess and playmaking abilities into Calgary’s roster.
Flames set to inject youth into season finale with Parekh, Morton, Brzustewicz and Suniev expected to debut
With this season’s goal now out of reach, the Calgary Flames are looking toward the future.
Flames fans should get a good look at as many as four first-timers who may make their NHL debuts on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena in California.
Calgary Flames already looking ahead to next season: ‘I want the high expectations’
“You know, I’m sure everybody was saying it’s sad and disappointing and whatnot,” Weegar said. “But for me, what a hell of a fight.

“It just says a lot about the culture and the identity here. I think, for next year, it kind of sets us up to have higher standards and higher expectations now, you know? When expectations were low, we proved people wrong.

Thank you once again for following the GDTs this year — it’s been a pleasure creating these for you! Even though our team didn’t make the playoffs, this has been an enjoyable year with many bright spots to celebrate moving forward. Once again, a special thanks goes to Tsawwassen and highway19man for consistently bringing their A game and providing coverage when I was away. Their dedication to the out-of-town games is truly amazing and appreciated.
This site is full of amazing people dedicated to bringing everyone important stories, info and knowledge. Sandman and cral12 for their incredible draft reports, sureLoss because no one gets Flames info before he does, Gaskal's ATLs bringing us hilarious outtakes from fans around the league, and all of you for your non-biased takes on what is and isn't important.
Lastly, I would be amiss if I didn't thank Bingo for his Game Takes. Bar none, the best reporting out there!
See ya'll in the fall!

Thank you so much for these all year.
Agree with Weegar 100%. Really a shame because the Flames might have done some damage in the playoffs:
- no silly shinny 3 on 3 overtime
- playoffs tend to be low scoring games
- playoffs are about goaltending and special teams and the Flames have been excellent in these areas lately. Penalty kill has been fantastic.
- Flames have been playing playoff style hockey for six weeks
- Team had the IT factor going

With a Flames win and Senators loss, we tie the NHL record for most points in a season without making the playoffs while finishing ahead of three playoff teams in the standings.
Let's do this!

Welp, this is our consolation prize as fans. A glimpse at the near future.
Looking forward to seeing Parekh, Suniev, Brz etc.
Curious who all sits besides Andersson. And if Wolf starts so he can get that rookie record.

It's going to be up to Conroy to continue to draft extremely well and look for a homerun trade to land a franchise forward now that the path is set. It looks like the pipeline is set in D, G and on the wing.....it's all there minus said franchise C.
It doesn't look like it will be coming via high draft choice unless something really lucky happens, and maybe this franchise is due that justice and finds its version of Pasta, Giroux or Point later in R1, R2 or R3 this year.
Looking forward to seeing Bru, Morton, Suniev and Parekh tonight.
