a short description from the Panthers SB Nation site:
Quote:
Schwindt is an intriguing, well-rounded, versatile two-way forward who is solid in all three zones. He has a good frame, is physical and possesses all of the intangibles needed to be a NHL level player, despite some concerns about his skating.

that was from last fall. Had a really solid AHL rookie season: third on his team in goals (19), tied for second in points (40), led the team in +/- (+22). Played his first 3 NHL games, too.

Where is Zary playing though.
Jones is likely #1 C, Schwindt is #2... Zary going to move to wing ?

The Athletic has him ranked as the Panthers’ 10th best prospect.
Quote:
He has been one of Charlotte’s top players, using his pro size and a workman’s approach to play to the inside, go to the net, and stay on pucks with his above-average overall skill and good instincts. He has also cleaned up his skating mechanics by the looks of it (he used to really drag his toes across the ice on his recovery but he has made some progress there) to round out his game. I don’t think he’ll be more than a bottom-six player at the next level but his odds of becoming an everyday guy instead of a fringe guy have definitely improved from low to medium.

seems like a surefire bottom 6 NHLer. Better than paying $5 or $6 million for one

Major weakness according to the scouting reports is his skating. Might not be good enough to be a NHL regular.

Which is funny. He's got time to work with our skating coach and will likely improve whereas Tkachuk wasn't the most graceful skater

From the highlights in his first AHL season, he looks like he has good hands, a nose for the net, plays with passion and his skating needs some more work with the caveat that he wasn’t getting caught on breakaways in the AHL…

I don't ever remember watching him play, but stat-watching only is already interesting with this kid.
Led the Steelheads in his Draft +1 season (they weren't a good team, but he led them in points).
In his first full pro season with the Checkers, he was tied on his team for points. The leader on the team only had 2 more points and was in his 5th pro season and 25 years old. The guy who he was tied with was 29 years old. Guy underneath him was Zac Dalpe - name may ring a bell since he has 154 GP in the NHL, and is 31 years old.
Stat watching is fairly useless without context for the most part. You have to watch the games to see if he is a kid that stirs the drink on his line, or is just a fairly one-dimensional tweener type of player who can put up points in the AHL, etc., but I always do think that it is a strong sign when a kid is among the leaders on his team in his rookie season. There might be something there.

to add to this, he apparently didn't get regular time on the powerplay. 36 of his points were EV, 3 were shorthanded, one single point came on the PP. Pretty nice numbers for a rookie.
