I have ATI Radeon 9600 XT. I play games like Doom 3. Which demand a top video card. So far Its been really good.

Well it's a newer card.
PRobably a few more features, less problems etc..
It has the same memory, slower memory speed, but a faster processor.
http://apps.ati.com/ATIcompare/
Go to this link, check off the two card you're choosing between and compare them. It will show you the diff.
I'd go with the 9000. But then if I was jumping in price Id start to wonder what the diff between a 9800 AIW 9600 AIW or 9600 XT AIW is like. Because suddenly you're buying a great card (9600's) or really great card (9800's) or just a allright card that does tuner stuff.
I'm not too sure about the 9000 sorry.
Where are you finding the 9000 by the way? are all your prices off of ebay?

Just search for consumer reviews for the 9000 pro one. vs the 9600 non XT it looks $40.00 retial difference and I'd certainlt buy the 9600 over a 9000. I'm not sure about the VPU in the 9000 but if it's anything like the 9200 (a cheap radeon card) the it is terrible.. well terrible imo when I tried to do much lol

Robotnik - video cards
that's where I'm finding the price on the 9000, see I'm cheap so I'm looking for my overall best buy, and I'm asking a number of people (not just CP) what they think of what I'm finding.

Re-read my post. I added links in the edit. The $211.00 ATI AIW Radeon 9000PRO (your link) is $10.00 cheaper then Price: $219.99 (my link) well $8.99 then the 9600 AIW. Which is a much better card! Huge difference.

wow,
I'm asking myself "how do I NOT buy this card?" (the 9600)
it does everything I will ever need it to, really. Not a huge difference between the 9600 and 9600 XT, the XT is a bit faster, and for the extra $60 is it worth it?
I was willing to pay $149.99 for a capture card, as well as paying $149 for a video card, but this AIW does everything I really need.
I was willing to pay $149.99 or whatever it was at Staples for the AIW 7500, but for $219.99, go big or go home.
The DTV feature (that's not on those cards, but on others) what exactly does that do? Apparently something about digital channels in the year 2000 (that's the best I could find).

The XT supports two monitors.
So you can plug in two monitors at once, which is pretty sweet. t doubles your desktop space and is so nice for doing stuff. Having windows open on each screen. It's so painfull to go back to a one monitor set-up after using two all the time.
Umm the DTV, not really sure, althoguh I'll have a look around.

I'd say go big and try and hit the homer with the card if it's only for another $60. Cheaper than trying to upgrade your card for $120 2 years earlier than with a 7500.

I'm thinking of getting a Nvidia. I had one when I got my first computer(Geforce 256 DDR) and then I upgraded to a Radeon 8500 128 MB. I'm building a computer for my niece for Christmas with all my old parts and rather than buy a $60 card for her like my friend suggested(I think he just doesnt want me to have a better card than him) I think I'm just going to buy a new one. When I bought Doom 3 I got the bonus pack with it and part of it was $10 off a GeForce FX card.
