Default Female Staff Harassment at the Saddledome

Just came across this thread on Reddit where a father of a staff member at the Saddledome made this plea:

Quote:
My teen daughter works at the games.

Men - stop grabbing my daughter or cornering her or pushing your crotch into her. Stop asking her out over and over when she cannot leave the situation. Some of you do it in front of your families even, who also dgaf.

Flames games are the worst for it.

What is wrong with you?
Quote:
Last night my daughter literally mouthed "help" at police and security who were watching it happen.

She says they looked concerned but no one did anything.
Made me a little sick to my stomach reading that but it sounds like this isnt an isolated case as a few more are coming forward with their own experiences.

Quote:
Can confirm. Been working the flames games for a few weeks and we have a couple teenagers that work with us. One is 16 and literally has to yell it at old men more than once sometimes so they'll stop being greasy. Disgusting.
Quote:
Yup, we had a guy put his arm around my 18 year old niece last night after she told him she wasn’t interested so that came to an end pretty fkn quickly.
Quote:
My daughter worked the Roughnecks games a few years back and quit after one season. “Come for the party, stay for the game” mentality bring out the worst in the neanderthals! I can only imagine what the Flames games are like, with the extra entitlement some guys feel they have due to the pricier tickets.
Guys, I know the Dome can be electric when we're winning in the playoffs but if you're guilty of this, stop this crap and if you see this happening, call them out on it

That is ####ing disgusting, unacceptable and shameful.

Frankly CSEC needs to be implicated in this. They have a duty to protect their employees and volunteers.

World is an ugly place.

Should honestly be a call to arms for regular folk who see it and don't say anything. Don't let it happen!

But it's not really a Saddledome thing.

My 17 year old daughter had to set off her car alarm after leaving her restaurant job last week because two dudes followed her to her car, and then parked behind her so she couldn't back out.

She gets harassed all the time.

This. If you see it happening, intervene.
Safely of course. Sometimes it can just be a matter of giving the victim a way of getting out. Walk over and say "Hey, can you give me a hand over here for a second".

this is all equal parts sadly believable and totally depressing

agree with Bingo it's toxic/widespread generalizable outside of the dome

blame number one has to go to the aggressors, blame number three to the silent majority , but wtf on the security and cops doing nothing? I see them running around taking people's beer (not saying they shouldn't be doing that) and other things- so why not intervene there?

Give your heads a shake. Virtually guaranteed to be a few on here.

Just enjoy the game like a normal person, wtf.

Exactly ...

simple as yelling "leave her alone!", would draw attention to the prick.

I'm obviously becoming an old man and have mentioned it many times recently. Because of that I don't party hard very often anymore and honestly I don't understand the desire or need to get absolutely wasted at a Flames game. Not all harassment is a result of alcohol but much of it is. Last night the guys ahead of us were almost wasted at puck drop and were downing three drinks a period. I didn't expect them to make it back to the seats for the third but somehow they managed.

My niece was a server at the Cactus Club. Some of the stories her mom (my sister) would tell me got my blood boiling. If you see something over the line, step in and handle it.

Might be time for a PSA at the dome during the game, maybe at the start and before each intermission.

Where in the dome is this happening? Security is mostly dudes, concessions are behind stands and cleaning staff is mostly older.

So is this the ushers? Or staff in the Telus Buffet, Duttons, kings club, restaurant?

As someone who used to work as an usher, I find this super upsetting.

Freaking disappointing. I was waiting outside the men's room for my friend during the intermission last night and was standing next to a girl who couldn't be more than 14-15 years old who I saw was waiting for her dad to come back out. Multiple creepy old men (50+) walking by and staring at her, being creepy. What's wrong with people.

Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

Boondock Saints was absolutely right.

This crap wont l change until people call it out. If you see something damn well do something. If it's not safe for you to intervene go get a cop or security and MAKE SURE they help.

Say something. Intervene.

Everyone has a video camera recording device in their pockets. Document it when you see it.

What is wrong with some people? In what world do you think this behaviour is acceptable? Sheesh.

Agree with the sentiments above. See something, say something. These creeps deserve to be called out!

Security and police not doing anything. Isn't that what their job is? They should do a blitz and ban people from events, then hopefully others will smarten up.

It's unfortunately everywhere though. When I was in high school, a girl in our friend group used to work at a video store that was open late and always had creepers coming in and just lingering or waiting outside until close. She would call on us to go there and help her close all the time because of it. The real kicker was that one of the most persistent creepers was a cop.
