I think way back someone posted a Team Alberta... but I think it would be something like this:
Smyth-Heatley-Iginla
Doan-Langkow-Comrie
Reinprecht-Linden-Hunter
Whitney-Tucker-Lupul
McAmmond-Barnes
Regehr-Phaneuf
Souray-Smith
Phillips-Morris
Stuart-Sopel
(assuming Scott Niedermayer is considered from BC)
Auld
Osgood
Coach: D. Sutter

Regehr was born in Brazil and grew up in Saskie (I think). We don't get him.
Except for the goaltending, that's a hell of an NHL team.

I wouldnt be surprised if it was like Quebec, where everyone would rather play for Canada.

Not necessaraly. If he lives in Alberta now, he would have the opportunity to change his nationality, and be allowed to represent Alberta in IIHF or IOC sanctioned tournaments. Similaraly, any native Albertan who lives elsewhere could choose to remain Canadian, rather than become Albertan.

But, he could apply for Albertan citizenship. There's still hope.

The IOC wouldnt allow him to change his citizenship from their perspective. He's an American for life, and they can keep him.
