Default Seravalli: Clock is ticking on Don Fehr's reign as NHLPA executive director

Apparently Fehr dodged the traditional Q & A portion of the Agents meeting.

https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/seraval...tive-director/

Quote:
For the first time in three years, the NHL Players’ Association and certified player agents gathered here on Wednesday for their annual one-day meeting.

There was a sense of normalcy – finally, on the back-end of the pandemic – but also a hint of potential drama brewing in the room.

The question and answer session with NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr was expected to be the main event. Agents wanted answers to tough questions about the Arizona Coyotes’ arena fiasco, projected revenues, the Kyle Beach investigation – and most importantly, the 73-year-old Fehr’s future at the helm.

One agent even purportedly went as far as sending a manifesto to Fehr and the NHLPA ahead of the meeting to advise them of questions he’d like answered.

Yet, Wednesday’s meeting was drama free.

Because the main event never happened.

According to agents in the room, Fehr never fielded questions, like he has after each of the meetings during his 11-year tenure – as each executive director did that came before him, too.

Agents were instead told that Fehr was unavailable for questions and the meeting was abruptly adjourned.

That was the latest in a series of signals indicating the significant pressure Fehr is facing, from multiple constituencies now, to get moving on an exit strategy.

Took the players 11 years to realize that Fehr was only looking out for the top 1% of the players and basically caved on everything the owners demanded.

IMO Fehr's head should have rolled on the Kyle Beach thing.

I wonder about this. At the end of the days all these guys likely want to do is play hockey. And there is no other league where they can go and have anywhere near the money they make in the nhl

My experience with unions in Canada is there isn’t an honest one ever. Either guys doing favours for others, not supporting constituents as professionally as they should, etc. At the end of the day they want to keep their dues going with doing the minimal amount of work possible. Blanket statement but I don’t care. It’s not a surprise so many of these guys get punted under nefarious circumstances.

Now you’ve done it! Unlike Candyman and Beetlejuice, you only have to say the “U” word once to summon “him”.

Maybe not, but nearly every corporation or government agency on the other end is even worse. I'd rather root for David than Goliath... or more specifically, me over them... even if we both live outside the white

I hate my username now but 2004 was almost 2 decades ago. Meh. Didn't realize he would devolve into the crazy and offensive megaphone/social media whore we see today. Lol 2004 no smart phones or fb. When was his comeback attempt again?

If they don't end up with anything other than Bill Bumface Jr, Bill Bumface III, etc, I'll be lodging a complaint.

A stupid blanket statement, to be sure.

Seravellli is a shameless mouth peice for a few NHL's agents, and doesn't really mask it well...likely a big reason he got the boot from TSN. Therefore, also another side to this.
