"The Predators (44-29-6, 94 points) are in a 3-4-2 slump and coming off Sunday's disappointing 5-4 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild, but they can clinch a playoff spot with a regulation-time win over the Pacific Division-champion Flames (49-20-10, 108 points), regardless of the outcome of the Vegas-Dallas game also on Tuesday.
A 6-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday has the Flames, who have posted the second-highest point total in franchise history, on a 9-1-1 roll."
"The Predators are 29-15-3 in conference matchups. Nashville is seventh in the Western Conference averaging 3.2 goals per game, led by Matt Duchene with 41.
The Flames are 29-13-5 against conference opponents. Calgary averages 8.9 penalty minutes per game, the seventh-most in the Western Conference. Milan Lucic leads the team serving 77 total minutes."

Calgary:
CAL are 6-2 in their last 8 games following a win.
CAL are 29-11 in their last 40 overall.
CAL are 10-4 in their last 14 vs. Central.
Nashville:
Over is 20-8 in NAS last 28 vs. Western Conference.
Another game with a potential first round opponent. Hopefullly they are able to get a win this go around.
Johnny looking for his 40th. Would love a Mangiapane hat-trick to give him a chance of hitting 40 as well, this season.
Guessing its Vladar again tonight as I don't think Markstrom practiced the other day and sounds like Wolf made the trip to Nashville.
I think Wolf would probably travel with the team regardless though. For more experience being with the team and just in case something happens that requires him to dress.

Fair point, and if Markstrom doesn't play tonight that would give him 7 days off which is a bit hefty.
I would give Markstrom tonight, Vladar against the Wild, and then Wolf on Friday vs the Jets. That last game will probably be exhibition level intensity.

Lose and it’s likely Preds in the first round. Who we would be winless against this year (overtime and shootout I know I know)...
I would like to point out that this can be pretty irrelevant. Teams that win season series lose in the first round all the time. Most recently, it happened to Edmonton v. Winnipeg. It happened to Calgary when they played Colorado. There are far too many imbalances in the regular season schedule to draw much from the season series as a gauge for playoff matches.

I'd go Vladar tonight, Marky Thursday and then Wolf against the Jets. Don't give Nashville the pleasure of playing Markstrom a week before we potentially play them.

Fair enough, less likely to meet Minny. No point exposing Markstrom, especially with the way Preds drive the net.

And I wouldn't even read too much into tonight if they happened to lose again. The game means more to Nashville and even though the Flames don't want to get bad habits they don't want to go guns blazing either and risk injuries. Just play smart and not lazy.
A rather monumental game in terms of deciding their first round opponent.
But I really don't care, you can't get in the trap of picking your preferred opponents. Playoffs are hard no matter what, you need to play your best and try to dictate your own fate.
Although I won't lie, would love to play the Oilers in the playoffs, that would be awesome.
