Default Flames 9 Coyotes 1

Flames 9 Coyotes 1

- Top line goes off for 4 points each
- Dube with two
- Flames score 9 straight to erase 1-0 first period.
- Coyotes goaltending terrible

Not surprised at the Backlund line numbers. Despite Coleman’s goal, they didn’t generate much in the way of shots and got hemmed in a few times.

Yeah the Coyotes goaltending is a joke. The guy that started has no business being in an NHL net. Actually that whole team is terrible. Schmaltz looks good, and that is it.

Goalies were not good, but they didn’t play behind a NHL team. Not put in a position to succeed

This was the third ever NHL game for Säteri, and he hasn't played on NA ice since 2019.

It's definitely not a position to succeed.

Worst part for Sateri is he didn't even sign with that pathetic pile of garbage that calls itself an nhl franchise. They stole him on waivers. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

Glad to see Zadorov’ pinch and assist on Mang’s goal noted.

He also snuck in and deftly poked the puck to Lindholm on goal 6

Knowing that Hrudey and Ball like to use the phrase ‘sneaky good’, that play to me seemed to fit the description.

(It was the one where they had given Johnny an assist and rescinded it as Tkachuk and Zadorov got touches)

Dube in has last 16 games: 7G, 5A, 12P, +7

In the prior 56 games: 6G, 9A, 14P, -9

I have always believed Dube could be a 40-50 pt, 200' player in this league. He's getting closer.

Zadorov and Gudbranson really struggled in their first game back against VGS, which was no surprise.

Much easier competition last night, but they were both significantly better. '

The Flames need them back at full speed for the playoffs. Obviously. Last night was an encouraging step in that direction.

Yeah Sutter talked about the defenseman having to get their games back to where they were.

Have to think that's the third pairing.

Zadorov does little things that drive the hockey coach in me nuts. Last night he didn't hustle back twice to give Gudbranson an option for a D to D pass. That's just lazy.

Too nonchalant carrying the puck at times.

Followed Gudbranson into his corner twice when Gudbranson covered for him because he was late getting there.

Dude needs to focus.

I can't recall a game where a team had such a poor 1st period and still ended up scoring 9 goals. Some of them were gifted by poor goaltending but it seems like the Coyotes just deflated once the Dube got the early 2nd period goal.

100%

But I fully expect that he will focus in the playoffs. That's the great ting about the playoffs - everyone is at full energy, full emotion, and full focus for every shift.

Which is why size matters more, and defense rules the day.

I think Andersson's skating is in the plus category now. He's obviously not Hanifin or Kylington, but I am not sure there is a more improved player over the last two seasons overall and I think his skating has a bunch to do with that. What a pleasure it has been to watch him step into this role and have a lot of success. His puckhandling at the blue line this season has been amazing as well
