Bruins re-sign Debrusk (2yrs, $4mil AAV)
Interesting to see if this makes him easier to trade with the arbitration/QO uncertainty now no longer an issue. This deal takes him right to UFA though.

Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, March 21, that the team has signed forward Jake DeBrusk to a two-year contract extension with an annual cap hit of $4,000,000.
DeBrusk, 25, has scored 15 goals and 11 assists this season for 26 points in 57 games. The 6-foot, 196-pound forward has appeared in 301 career NHL games for the Bruins, recording 82 goals and 78 assists for 160 points.
DeBrusk was selected by Boston in the first round (14th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

He had arbitration rights, which were likely a complication in any potential trades.

what was his qualifying offer supposed to be? I thought it was under 4 and he was going to sign a deal for less than that to facilitate a deal.

Wouldn't the flames have preferred debrusk becoming a rfa next season though (Ie. Pure rental), if he was a target?

^^ it’s been rumoured they are in need of a top 6 Center so maybe a fresh start in a good situation would help Mony and there has been lots of Monahan/DeBrusk chatter on Twitter but nothing I’d call ‘official’. I’d do it in a heartbeat too though which makes it seem unlikely lol.

We could still deal a guy like Dube in the off-season to gain additional cap for the big contracts, DeBrusk slots into the window and with guys like Pelletier pushing Dube is an expendable piece in the off-season. I still think Lucic could be moved too once his bonus is payed July 1st and I think he’d allow it he seems to have been helpful all the way through his time here.

I don't think Monahan for Debrusk is all that plausible, but if the Flames did it, they'd probably have to try to move Lucic's contract in the summer ($2million in cap savings would not be enough).

Mony for DeBrusk and then getting a solid 4th line center would be decent..
Gaudreau - Lindholm - Toffoli
DeBrusk - Backlund - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Jarnkrok - Coleman
Lucic - ?????????????? - Dube
Lewis

They could use a 2C. I know we are down on Monahan but he’s playing way outside his role right now
