You know I responded to a post in the Rasmus thread and it really made me think that Danielle deserves a little more attention for the beyond noticeable improvements she’s helped countless players achieve with their skating. The recovery time on the D is incredible and is going to become a key component down the stretch and into the playoffs when the games become harder and harder. Fantastic addition to the Flames and one that can’t be understated! Thoughts on what she’s been able to add to the Flames??
Danielle does power skating for my sons U13 team, she is absolutely top shelf. So much of it is about stride mechanics to utilize the more powerful muscle groups, she does a great job teaching that (these are young kids so obviously not comparing this to what she does with the NHL players)
Withough a doubt Flames are faster on their skates and their moves this year...part of which I assume is conditioning, but using those mechanica abilities in a smarter and more efficient manner has to save effort (less tired!) and provide better speed. Cool.
And wow - does she ever look tiny next to Valimaki!!
Can we get Tkachuk some 1 on 1 time with her? He's the one player on the team I consider a pretty bad skater.
Ever since his skating was pointed out to me I can't seem to 'unsee' it. I feel like Tkachuk's skating abilities are so engrained in to his game that it will require years of specialized training to unravel.
It's definitely his weakness, although he has definitely proven he has other skills to compensate and make up for those faults.
