Default Flames for NHL Awards

This team is rolling and one could assume we will only get better?!

The roster is full of players that deserve NHL recognition. It will be fun to track them as the season progresses. As it currently stands, here are some nominees at the very least.

Gaudreau-Hart
Lindholm-Selke
Gaudreau/Lindholm-Lady Byng
Markstrom-Vezina
Markstrom/Vladar-Jennings

Am I missing anyone?

Uhh, the good ol NHL Plus-Minus Award?
Speaking of that, I didn't know Tyler Toffoli won it in 2016.

And Brad McCrimmon, Joe Mullen, Theoren Fleury and Mark Giordano have all won it with the Flames previously.

I hope none of them win anything... for re-signing purposes.

I only care about one prize... The Cup.

Let the Oilers keep the individual awards ceremonies...

But yes, for the sake of conversation, the list seems realistic.

I won't be too offended if one of them wins the Conn Smythe.

If a miracle happens and the Flames' win the cup, GMBT should definitely win GM of the year award.

There is a fairly substantial difference between "possibly" and "likely"

No, he's a terrible GM that's being carried by the great coach he hired, great goalie he signed, elite forwards he traded for, drafted, and re-signed.

Hmmm I posted this somewhere before.

Year before Sutter signings.

Leivo, Simon, Nordstrom

This year with Sutter signings:

Gudbranson, Coleman, Lewis, Richardson

Something tells me Sutter played a major role in rebuilding this team.

Who cares.
He delivered a team to allow his coach to succeed.
That seems to be smart.

You also have ignored that the previous year included Markstrom and Tanev who are huge parts of the team this year.

Leivo, Simon and Nordstrom are inconsequential either way.

Considering the impact of Markstrom and Tanev I would say that off-season was DAMN good for BT.

The fact that you pointed out those 3 players and ignored the ones that mattered, shows your bias in this topic.

and? How did Tanev and Markstrom power the Flames into playoffs last year?

Or maybe he allowed the coach to help him with some gm-ing. Which is smart on his part. Not GM of the year winning.

and I don't have much of a bias. I have like 2 posts in the Fire Brad thread.

I blame him for our 98lb weakling team that he assembled for the years before this.

How awesome is it to hear that we are "tough" to play against?

All we have to do is look at some of the depth forwards that are being suggested as Sutter signings (E.g. Richie) and are they really what is making this team what it is? I would suggest that BT needs to get some credit to an extent.

It can't be all negative the way it's being spun here. It's just not reasonable.
