Default Tkachuk > Lindholm

Love them both, but I think the narrative hasn't reflected what the numbers say. These have confirmed my view that Tkachuk really drives the play more than Lindy. I don't have time to take quotes from the article just yet, but wanted to start the conversation.

I think arguments can be made for both.

However, Lindholm plays C. And he costs about half what Tkachuk is going to cost next year.

End of conversation, AFAIC

It’s just about impossible to compare a Selke center goal scorer to, we’ll whatever you would consider Tkachuk is. Such different roles but both important to the line and teams success.

There is a reason Lindholm is +43 and Tkachuk is a measly +35

A team full of Lindholms would be the best team in the NHL.

A team full of Tkachuks would be…probably not very effective.

Just my opinion but I think Lindholm is far more valuable

Tkachuk passes better and is nastier. Lindholm skates and checks better.

If I had to pick between the two, I’m keeping Lindholm. That said Tkachuk has been great this year.

Chucky's 5-on-5 GF% and xGF% are higher than Lindy's. It's an open and shut case without needing to write a whole article about it.

However, Chucky is about to make $9M next year and more than that in the years following (or above $9M starting next season if he signs a long term extension this summer). Lindy is under contract for under $5M for this and 2 more years. Bang for buck goes to Lindy and it isn't close.

Lindholm is vastly underrated. The reason the Gaudreau/Lindholm/Tkachuk line is so good is because of Lindholm and his exceptionally two way play that allows Gaudreau/Tkachuk to take risks offensively since they know Lindholm has it covered.

Lindholm is the best all-around and most valuable Flames player by a large margin.

On the forehand. Not between the legs.

Both of those teams would lose to 5 Giordanos.

Yes, Lindy’s 2 way play makes a huge difference. It did even back in the Gatorade days.

It's a tough comparison to make.

Offensively I don't think Lindholm really holds a candle to Tkachuk. Tkachuk is clearly the superior playdriver in the offensive sense with his IQ, creativity and playmaking being a couple notches above Lindholm's. Tkachuk is no slouch defensively himself but you obviously have to give the large edge to Lindholm in that respect due to positional responsibilities and skating ability.

Both are critically important pieces to the success of this team and compliment one another wonderfully.

Having to debate who is the second best player on one of the most dominant lines in the NHL is a real nice problem to have.

Don't make us choose. We will not choose.

We got both and are keeping both, along with another member of their line, for a very long time.

I'm thankful we have them both. And that kid that wears #13 seems like he can play too.

I really hope the Flames manage to find a way to lock up all of Johnny, Tkachuk, and Mangiapane. A core of them plus Lindholm and Toffoli is so incredible.

With Markstrom, Tanev, Andersson, and Hanifin all locked and Kylington as an RFA, the team really would be set for a while with a top core. Then you've got guys like Pelletier being added as depth through the next couple of years.

I don't care who has a digger bick.

I want a cup and if these 2 players can get me there then I'm happy.
Both of these players should be very happy to finally have a coach who knows what the F he's doing , how to do it so that the results matter.

I just really hope we can keep both players and keep them playing right.
I don't think we've seen the best of either player yet .
When games matter they'll either do well or be un noticeable.
Lindholm would be my choice to keep down the road if I had to choose.
