GAME NIGHT: Oilers at Flames

POINTS LEADERS

OILERS
Leon Draisaitl 56 38 41 79 +15
Connor McDavid 55 29 50 79 +13
Zach Hyman 50 19 18 37 -3

FLAMES

Johnny Gaudreau 54 22 49 71 +41
Matthew Tkachuk 54 27 37 64 +34
Elias Lindholm 54 27 30 57 +42

SPECIAL TEAMS

OILERS: PP — 25.6% (4th) PK — 75.7% (27th)
FLAMES: PP — 23.1% (9th) PK — 84.4% (4th)

In Calgary, there’s a case to be made for Elias Lindholm’s potential as a Selke Trophy nominee, Jacob Markstrom for the Vezina and, arguably, Johnny Gaudreau for the Hart. In Edmonton, the race is on for the Art Ross between Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Whatever side you’re on, it’s an impressive display of skill in Alberta with some of the NHL’s best talents.

Flames Look For Their First Win Against Edmonton This Season

-The Oilers once led the Division, but a 7 game losing streak to start the new year and consistent, inconsistent play has seen them drop to 4th place in the division and Edmonton is 9 points behind the Flames for the top spot.
-Calgary will have to be careful and not take a ton of penalties tonight. The Oilers PP is operating at 25.6%, good for 4th overall in the league. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have combined for 62 points on the PP (31 each).

JONES: Time for Oilers to move on from goaltender Mike Smith

It’s become virtually unanimous with the entire population of Edmonton hockey fans that, 16 days before his 40th birthday, 15 days and six games before the trade deadline and 53 days and 26 games before the end of the season, the Edmonton Oilers can’t continue to go with No. 41 in goal

Playing lights-out, Flames prepare for up-and-down Oilers

Playing like a team that could run away with the Pacific Division, the Calgary Flames can take yet another step in that direction when they play host to the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.
In a battle of the top two teams in the Western Conference on Saturday, the Flames pulled off a 4-3 overtime victory over the Colorado Avalanche when Johnny Gaudreau scored 37 seconds into the extra period. It was the veteran's 11th career overtime goal, tying the franchise record with Sean Monahan.
The Flames are now a dominating 13-1-1 over their last 15 games dating back to Jan. 29. And they are 3-0-1 since a stunning 7-1 defeat to the Vancouver Canucks on Feb. 24.

Can't wait for this game - and thanks for those pics - we have the best set of jerseys in the league - no questions, absolutely gorgeous.

Hearing reports out of Edmonton that it’s a bruised ego that has Oilers old timer Mike Smith sidelined. We actually have Mike here to confirm this, Mike is this the case? Your ego is bruised up pretty badly??

Please beat these clowns. If there was ever a time where the Flames could beat the Oilers it would be now as every loss down the stretch puts another nail in the Oilers coffin.

We saw that Duncan Keith's return ceremony last week, but he isn't the only slow creature making a comeback!

The Gruesome Twosome greet an old acquaintance in the only way they know how, and hope it sets the pace for tonight's game:

Spoiler!

Go Flames

Really big game tonight. Flames need revenge for those 2 losses earlier this year and also need to start putting the nail in the coffin for the Oilers. Flames regulation win keeps the Oilers 2 pts back of the wildcard with 2 more games played than the competition and 4pts back of a Pacific division spot. Flames would also have a double digit point lead with multiple games in hand as well.

Since the last game both teams have added top 6 forwards. This is the Flames first look at the Oil with Kane in the lineup and the Oilers first game vs Calgary with Toffoli.

It would be nice to see the Flames win this one. Seems like Edmonton has been winning a lot against Calgary lately.

I’m on a multi game losing streak when attending live and I’m going with an Oiler fan. Apologies in advance.
