Default Flames 3 Oilers 1

Flames 3 Oilers 1

- Guadreau with another multi point night
- Toffoli with two more goals
- Markstrom robbed of a shut out
- Oilers won't be catching the Flames this year ... 11 points two games in hand

"Honestly I think this is chess and not checkers …"

To be fair you are describing most Sutter-Francis interactions

I hear you on Kylington but I feel like the chaos aspect of his game has been more prominent in recent weeks.

When he was establishing himself back in the fall, he was keeping it simple, focusing on D and picking his spots much more conservatively. Feels like he's regressed. He needs to get back to that game.

You're dislike for Markstrom is taking some strange new turns!

Guy lost a shut out on a terrible bounce from a ref that honestly should have been looking for the puck. If you don't want to call it robbery, call it whatever you want.

The guy lost a shut out.

I agree. I think Sutter does too.

It's not reads as much as it's shaky feet and hands to some degree.

Sutter has talked before about Kylington's need to avoid the big mistake, and that it has been his hallmark in the past. So you have to think he's either getting some tough love right now, or maybe Sutter is going the opposite direction in dealing with him. It may have an impact on what the club does at the deadline so will be interesting to watch.

While a shutout would have been nice, I don't hate that the Flames had to defend a one goal lead there for a while. You want them comfortable in that situation.

I am shocked that the Flames won 55% of the draws.

It seemed like they were losing every key draw, and many of us in my section were lamenting it.

But yeah, the talk in the intermissions was the same: very low event hockey and the Flames couldn't make a pass or generate any speed in the neutral zone
