Just an FYI for you being a new dad- when diapers say "up to 10 pounds" they mean the size of the kid, not how much poop it will hold.

New baby diapers are nothing compared to when they switch to solid food. Enjoy this stage while it lasts!

Okay.....as a diaper genie expert!!!!! (Been using them for 8 years and counting.) Are you pushing the diapers too far into the genie? If you go past the prongs then it will not twist probably. You push the offending article up to the prongs then twist a couple of times. Easy really.
Yeah, and what Mr. Ski said!

While diaper genie might have a chance of being considered cute nickname for your wife. I don't think referring to her as "the thing" is very nice.

Wow, great to see so many guys familar with the Diaper Genie, I don't feel so alone anymore! One thing I noticed with the genie is if it's empty, you'll need a few diapers in it to weight down the sac so it can hold the twists.

Go to the loonie store. You can get these little orange diaper scented bags for dirt cheap. I know its more waste but I perfer the no smell.
Agree with the wait until the eat solids comment. But the first oozing tary stuff is pretty sick. LOL!!

agree 100% sounds like a classic case of pushing in too far
you'll have to cut this bag, and start again
after 2 kids and 5 years, my wife has still never changed the genie. I'm the resident genie guy

Are babies supposed fart the same volume as a 21 year old beer swilling frat boy. Jesus maple ginger christ. I almost dropped him because it startled the hell out of me.

Wait until he farts in the tub... once that bubble hits the surface... good night Irene.

Yes
you will probably want to invest now in something called Amaze (tm) to soak all of the poop stained clothing in

Does baby poop ever stain if you don't get it out right away. At least my son doesn't overfill his diaper when he's wearing his Flames onesie... onesie... took me forever to figure out what my wife was talking about when she asked me to get a clean onesie. "A what now?"

Just to warn you Fotze, that diaper genie can begin to REEK after a few months so keep a can of Lysol handy.
The farting is really quite astounding. How many times has he peed on you while changing him? My son got me about 20 times in one week! I'm a slow learner...

Park the clean diaper on top of the fire-hydrant while cleaning everything else -- that way you don't get sprayed. ICU nurse taught me that one .
And here's a nice thought to put in your head: If you turn each diaper into the GENIE nice and tight, you end up with a nice string of "sausages" when it's time to clean it out. Helps with the smell too. (Although the Lysol spray is the best remedy). Aren't they great little machines?

My son hasn't sprinkled on me while I was changing him, but he did manage to get his own face. I then turned him so he wouldn't get his face, not thinking, and he was shooting for the floor, but missed the floor and got the cat who just plopped himself down by my feet. It was comical. He got my wife a few times too.

Walmart or Costco, depending on which brand & type. Sometimes Costco has the giant boxes of Pampers / Huggies, but they tend to be the value brand - our kid got a rash from them.

We've been lucky. After nearly 4 months (4 on Christmas Day) the genie hasn't began to stink and we've not had to clean it out yet either.
