Markus "Frickin" Granlund
Since his call up, Markus Granlund has shown management why he deserves to stay with the big club. He has shown up with his wicked wrist shot and play a role on the PK. Management will have some decisions to make when Bouma is healthy again.
Oh and what else? the guy should win the Oscars with that Christmas video haha.
Fun fact from the game against Buffalo:
@DarrenWHaynes:
Odd stats tonight:
- Granlund (19:21) played more than Monahan (18:05)
- Ferland with 5 hits in 7:50
- Ferland and Granlund 10-8 in faceoffs

If they send him down in favor of keeping Raymond I'll pee in Trelivings office.

I think he's a good player that just needs to get ice time to prove his worth as he has nothing left to prove in the AHL. That said I'm worried about what happens when Bouma comes back and Hartley has to shuffle the roster. I don't mind Bouma on the PK but outside of that I have no used for him outside of a 4th line role so I assume maybe Raymond would be the odd man out.

Yup. Bouma should never be in the top 6. I think he is an improvement on a lot of players in our bottom 6 though. Bollig, Ferland, Raymond, Jooris.

6 games is a rather small sample size. But I'm certainly pleased if he proves me wrong and sticks.
(Although the competition isn't much this season.)

Granlund plays well every time they call him up...not sure what more he has to do, there are far worse players on this team

Sort of a jack of all trades, solid complimental player. Good skills, smart, works hard - whats not to like. Sure, size and face offs, but then he'd be a bonafide top player!

I'd rather see him traded, than see him sent down again. The kid is a NHLer.

I hope he sticks. He has paid his dues and seems to fit in well. If he is going to keep learning, it probably should be in the NHL.
I don't expect him to be a permanent fixture on the top 6, but one of those players that can slot in anywhere and not be out of place.

It would be an absolute crime if he gets sent down.

Keep this kid up for good. He is a solid offensive player with a decent 2 way game. Raymond to the minors when Bouma comes back

It's amazing what happens when a skilled player gets put on a line with other skilled players.
If he goes back to the AHL and Raymond/Bollig stay, I'll be super bummed.

He's twice the NHLer Mason Raymond is.

Baertschi went 32 picks ahead of Granlund in 2011 NHL Draft. Baertschi has played 31 more games. Last night, Granlund passed him in goals.

Literally only 1 thing Ramymond has an advantage on Granlund, top end speed. Every other aspect of Hockey Granlund trumps Raymond.

I'm a huge fan but it's too soon for a "fricken" thread. An "I like" thread would've sufficed. His chemistry with Bennett and top 6 quality play has been exciting though.
If Tree isn't willing to waive/demote Raymond then screw it, just buy him out. Mason has been better the past couple games, but Granlund - a call up - has still managed to be twice as effective. And unfortunately it is a numbers game when it comes to an NHL roster.

Last year when he was centering Gaudreau and Hudler, Granlund was the Flames points per game leader and I think he has played way better this callup then when he came up last year. Also his penalty killing has been far better than Backlunds. He needs to stay in the lineup.

Best part about Granlund is we got him with a pick acquired in the Erixon trade.
