Winnipeg's full line rushes during Sunday's skate at Bell MTS Iceplex looked like this:

With franchise-tying win streak in sight, Flames still strive for consistency

But the fact that the Flames are the stingiest team in the 32-team loop right now — having allowed a league low 113 goals, thanks partially to the netminding of Jacob Markstrom and, to a lesser extent, back-up Dan Vladar — helps.

On the other side, they’ve become one of the more prolific teams in the NHL, Western Conference and Pacific Division by scoring 166 goals in 48 games.
Red-hot Flames look for 10th straight win

The Calgary Flames can match the longest winning streak in franchise history when they host the Winnipeg Jets on Monday afternoon.

The Flames have won nine in a row to move atop the Pacific Division standings.

Calgary has won 10 straight games twice in team history. The then-Atlanta Flames accomplished the feat during the 1978-79 season, while Calgary also won 10 in a row during the 2016-17 campaign.

Flames Leaders

  • Johnny Gaudreau has been imperative to Calgary’s offense this season, registering 62 points in 48 games.
  • Tkachuk has 56 points (24 goals, 32 assists) to add to the team’s offensive efforts.
  • On 137 shots (for 22 goals) and 26 assists, Lindholm has created 48 points this season.
  • In the 38 games Jacob Markstrom has played this season, his save percentage is .927, the third-best in the league.
Jets Leaders

  • Connor has totaled 54 points (1.1 per game) for Winnipeg, with 29 goals and 25 assists in 49 games (playing 21:48 per game).
  • Mark Scheifele is a key piece of the offense for Winnipeg with 40 total points this season. He has scored 17 goals and added 23 assists in 43 games.
  • Pierre-Luc Dubois has 36 points so far, including 21 goals and 15 assists.
  • Connor Hellebuyck is 16-17-3 this season, collecting 1199 saves and allowing 114 goals (2.8 goals against average) with a .913 save percentage (19th in the league).

Dube in the dog house... rightfully so. Effort level seems right, but decision making is still just put of whack for some reason.

No doubt this will be a tough test, historic marks always seem to make it harder and the Jets are routinely stingy though I think they won’t be as boring of a game as when Maurice was at the helm. Let’s go Calgary!!!

5-2 good guys

Toff hatty
Lindholm
Tanev

Ruzicka and Ritchie.. I'm so sold on Ruzicka right now that I actually think Ritchie could have a good game!

It seems that after the play in series in the bubble WPG has had our and Markstrom’s number. I’m hoping for a good game. Hopefully we won’t give them too many PP opportunities, and Markstrom is up to the task.

Go Flames.

Afternoon games are the worst. Hopefully the Flames are ready for this one. Seeing this streak reach 10 games would be something else.

Interesting that Toffoli isn't getting any time on the 2nd powerplay unit.

Taking my 3 y/o son to his first game (went once when a baby)
He’s been talking about it for days, jersey is on and wants to leave now…. So the excitement level is there.
Can’t wait to share this with him!

This will be the Flames 49th game this year. Has there been even one game where the Flames were missing more regulars than the other team? That can't all be luck.

I am taking my 5 year old daughter today for her third game (we went when she was 5 months and I took her when she was 3). She is far more excited for this game than the last one. It was the last thing she mentioned before bed and when she came to wake me up this morning she said “go flames go” to start the day.

Hoping the Flames get the win and score a bunch of goals.

The whole team having Covid basically at once helped this team out immensely. Of course, becuase no one got really sick, but secondarily, it meant no games that they had to play with 6 guys out, then others out in the succeeding days, meanwhile the guys not sick and playing had to put in more ice time and get worn down or injured because of the heavier work load. Practices as well were basically everyone off and then everyone back, which if course keeps everyone on same page as well.

Then they could all come back at once, well rested and again all at the same stage of recovery and able to practice all together.

And, the timing of the breaks. With Covid and cancelled games around the holidays and after 2 months of playing, a good quarter pole break and more relaxed, at home for holidays, and able to rest the body as opposed to a very heavy holiday schedule.

Then come back for a month and another long weekend break for rest.

The next month or so will be crucial, with all the makeup games and tight schedule starting to accumulate wear on the bodies. That's where the depth at the back (Stone,Valimaki,Mackey) and up front ((Richardson, Ritichie, farm guys) will have to play their role. It's also the only quiver that BT should have left for trades, if he needs to get more depth for potential or realized injuries.
