Spin Bikes? (Yeah yeah, I know)
Woman wants a spin bike. I can’t say no because she actually used to go all the time before babe, and is one of those crazy ‘I actually have fun doing that shot’ sort of people.
Must integrate with stand alone tablets or apps, none of this bull#### Echelon deals.
Bowflex C6 and Schwann IC4 are our two candidates current. Anyone recommend/experience with either or something else?
Thanks!

As I understand it, those are basically the same bike. The Bowflex has more premium branding and costs more but is exactly the same as the Schwinn.
(Also I think it’s great that your wife enjoys spin. Nothing wrong about that.)

We have a C6 and it does the job. I bought it because I needed something for some steady-state cardio work as part of my cardiac arrest recovery in early 2021. But since last Spring, I've only used it now and then, the Baroness hardly at all. If I'm going to workout indoors, I prefer to work the heavy bag for eight rounds followed by some kettlebell work.

We snagged the IC4 in summer of 2020 and it's been great so far. Pairs up perfectly with Peloton app which is really good and cheap - only caveat being the resistance levels are a bit different than an actual Peloton bike so you need to learn that at the beginning.

I was looking at these a few months ago, and the favourite that emerged was the Keiser m3i. Their bikes are really well made (made in the US, whereas others tend to be made overseas), and I also like that while you can use all the various apps and classes, you're not locked into a system like you are with Peleton.

We have an older Keiser before the apps and all that. It's a really good bike if you're into that and seems to be really good quality. I would also say that hanging laundry and things like that has never once made me question the stability of the bike!

Not gonna lie I enjoy the ease of our peloton. I’m not a regular rider but my wife is.

I bought a Life Fitness for when the lock downs started. I do mostly intervals with light weights. They take up very little space and make minimal noise. Even with the gyms back open I find time to use it twice a week

Anyone able to recommend a collapsible bike? Is that a thing?
Edit: collapsible spin/exercise bike

Excellent choice. We bought a Bowflex C6 about a year and a half ago now. As mentioned, it integrates super easily with the Peloton app on an Ipad, etc. Really solidly built spin bike. I have no complaints at all.
We use it quite regularly and it has stood up really well.
We considered buying a Peloton bike, but found it too limiting with being stuck in the Peloton world and the cost of subscription that way kinda turned us off.
We can use pretty much any bluetooth cycling app with the C6, there is some really good ones out there. (Zwift, FulGaz, Rouvy, etc)

What is the lowest profile bike on the market? Does a small footprint, bare bones stationary bike exist? I'm not sure how much it would get used at my house, but it would be nice to have an option while binging TV and it not taking up the whole room.

Not sure which is the smallest footprint but the C6 and I4 do not take up a lot of room. Its not like an exercise bike you see at hotel gyms covered in big plastic frameworks. The C6 is very easy to move around. I think spin bikes in general are typically a lot smaller footprint than the big exercise bikes you see elsewhere.

Are you talking about a collapsable spin bike or an outdoor bike like a Brompton?

There likely are ones out there but typically, when it comes to exercise equipment, weight typically equals quality. If you were to put a lot of effort into a workout on a small, light bike, it would bounce all over the place.
As greyshep said, there is a different between spin bikes and exercise bikes. Spin is typically smaller and narrower without all the bells and whistles of screens.

Well we went with the Schwinn IC4. Slick little unit, should do what we’re looking for.

craigslist, what ever spin bike you want it will be on there, along with every other piece of exercise equipment ever made, it's the nature of both resolutions and craigslist

I have an Echelon, bought it on kijiji with an ipad, I was fine for about 6 months solitary but then had this need to get to the gym and sweat it out with others.

I’m asking about a collapsible spin/exercise bike, not an outdoor bike.

Maybe if you wait a year longer, can grab a Peloton dirt cheap once’s they file bankruptcy.

Have a C6 with the peloton app on a tablet. Me and the missus have both been using it 3-4 times a week for a year. No complaints, worth the investment. Echoing above, get the chart for converting Peloton resistance to C6 resistance.
